Edison Design Group
The Edison Design Group (EDG) is a company that makes compiler front ends (preprocessing and parsing) for C++ and formerly Java and Fortran. Their front ends are widely used in commercially available compilers and code analysis tools. Users include the Intel C++ compiler, Microsoft Visual C++ (IntelliSense), NVIDIA CUDA Compiler, SGI MIPSpro, The Portland Group, and Comeau C++. They are widely known for having the first, and likely only, front end to implement the unused until C++20 export keyword of C++. EDG was founded in 1988 in New Jersey by J. Stephen "Steve" Adamczyk, a 1974 B.S. graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a 1977 M.S. graduate of the Indiana University Bloomington, and an experienced compiler engineer who had worked for Advanced Computer Techniques in New York City. Scotch Plains is a township in Union County, New Jersey, United States. The township is located on a ridge in northern- central New Jersey, within the Raritan Valley and Rahway Valley regions in the New York metropolitan area. Phillip James (P.J. or Bill) Plauger (; born January 13, 1944, Petersburg, West Virginia) is an author, entrepreneur and computer programmer. He has written and co-written articles and books about programming style, software tools, and the C programming language, as well as works of science fiction. Personal life and career Plauger worked at Bell Labs from 1969 to 1975, where he coauthored '' Elements of Programming Style'' and ''Software Tools'' with Brian Kernighan. In 1978, he founded Whitesmiths, the first company to sell a C compiler and Unix-like operating system (Idris). He has since been involved in C and C++ standardization and is now the president of Dinkumware. Comeau C++
Comeau C/C++ is a compiler for C and C++ produced by Comeau Computing. Comeau C/C++ was once described as the most standards-conformant C++ compiler. In 2006-2008 it was described as the only mainstream C++ compiler to fully support the export keyword for exported templates. Design The compiler supports several dialects of both the C and C++ languages. It comes with its own version of the Standard C++ library, libcomo, that is based upon the Standard C++ library from Silicon Graphics, but can also be used with the Dinkumware Standard C library. The compiler is based upon the Edison Design Group C++ frontend, also utilized in the Intel C++ Compiler. SGI MIPSpro
Open64 is a free, open-source, optimizing compiler for the Itanium and x86-64 microprocessor architectures. It derives from the SGI compilers for the MIPS R10000 processor, called ''MIPSPro''. It was initially released in 2000 as GNU GPL software under the name Pro64. The following year, University of Delaware adopted the project and renamed the compiler to Open64. It now mostly serves as a research platform for compiler and computer architecture research groups. Open64 supports Fortran 77/95 and C/C++, as well as the shared memory programming model OpenMP.
