Edino Nazareth Filho
Edino Nazareth Filho (born 5 June 1955), known as Edinho, is a Brazilian former football player and manager. He played as a central defender with Fluminense, Grêmio, Toronto Blizzard and with the Brazil national team. He is currently a sports commentator. International career Edinho obtained 45 caps with the Brazil national team between March 1977 and June 1986. He took part at three "FIFA World Cup" final tournament. He played 3 matches in the 1978 FIFA World Cup, in Argentina. He appeared only once during the 1982 FIFA World Cup, subbing in for Oscar after 75 minutes against New Zealand. He played all Brazil's five matches during the 1986 FIFA World Cup in which he was captain, scoring one goal. 1986 FIFA World Cup
The 1986 FIFA World Cup was the 13th FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial football tournament for men's senior national teams. It was played in Mexico from 31 May to 29 June 1986. The tournament was the second to feature a 24-team format. Colombia had been originally chosen to host the competition by FIFA but, largely due to economic reasons, was not able to do so, and resigned in 1982. Mexico was selected as the new host in May 1983, and became the first country to host the World Cup more than once, after previously hosting in 1970. The World Cup was won by Argentina (their second title, after winning in 1978). Argentina was captained by the 25-year-old Diego Maradona, who played a large part in his team's success by scoring his " Hand of God" goal, as well as another voted "Goal of the Century", in the same quarter-final against England. Oscar (footballer, Born 1954)
José Oscar Bernardi (born 20 June 1954), known as Oscar, is a Brazilian former association footballer who played as a defender. He notably represented the Brazil national football team at international level, and played as a starter in defence at the 1978 and 1982 FIFA World Cups, while he was a reserve in 1986. He was capped almost 60 times for Brazil between April 1978 and May 1986, and scored two goals. At club level, he played for São Paulo and Ponte Preta in Brazil. Oscar also played for American side New York Cosmos in 1980 and Japanese team Nissan FC between 1987 and 1989. After his professional retirement, he coached several football clubs in Japan and Brazil. He now runs an athletic training center in Monte Sião, Minas Gerais. The 1982 FIFA World Cup was the 12th FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial football tournament for men's senior national teams, and was played in Spain between 13 June and 11 July 1982. The tournament was won by Italy, who defeated West Germany 3–1 in the final, held in the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in the capital, Madrid. The 1978 FIFA World Cup was the 11th edition of the FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial international football world championship tournament among the men's senior national teams. 1975 Pan American Games
The 1975 Pan American Games were held in Mexico City, Mexico, from October 12 to October 26, 1975, exactly twenty years after the second Pan American Games were held there. It was the third major sporting event held in the Mexican capital in seven years, after the 1968 Summer Olympics and the 1970 FIFA World Cup. Host city election Two cities submitted bids to host the 1975 Pan American Games that were recognized by the Pan American Sports Organization. On August 29, 1969, Santiago was selected unanimously over San Juan to host the VII Pan American Games by PASO at its 10th general assembly, held in Cali, Colombia.
