Edinburgh United F.C.
Edinburgh United Football Club is a Scottish football club, based in the Colinton area of Edinburgh. Formed in 1985, the team competes in the East of Scotland Football League First Division Conference B, having moved from the junior leagues in 2018. The club play their home games at Paties Road Recreation Ground in the south-west of the city, which holds around 2,500 spectators and features a 200 seater stand. The team play in black and white strips. Edinburgh United were the sole "Junior" club in Edinburgh for the majority of their time in the Junior leagues, with all other non-league clubs either playing in the senior East of Scotland Football League or latterly the Lowland Football League. Spartans ran a Junior team for four seasons from 2009 to 2013, while Warriston Warriston ( ) is a suburb of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It lies east of the Royal Botanic Garden in Inverleith. The ''Edinburgh Evening News'' is a daily newspaper and website based in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was founded by John Wilson (1844–1909) and first published in 1873. It is printed daily, except on Sundays. It is owned by JPIMedia, which also owns ''The Scotsman''. Much of the content of the ''Evening News'' concerns local issues such as transport, health, the local council and crime in Edinburgh and the Lothians. The paper has a significant number of journalists covering sport, with a dedicated reporter assigned to each of the city's football teams, Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian. Circulation According to ABC figures for February 2014, the paper's circulation was 28,000, down from 32,160 in the preceding February. Warriston
Warriston ( ) is a suburb of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It lies east of the Royal Botanic Garden in Inverleith. The name derives from Warriston House, a local mansion house demolished in 1966. In July 1600 John Kincaid, the Laird of Warriston was murdered by his wife, Jean Livingstone a daughter of the Laird of Dunipace, her two female servants, and his stable hand. The women were captured and sentenced to be burnt. Warriston Cemetery was opened in 1843 and is now owned by the City of Edinburgh. Warriston Crematorium was opened on 29 October 1929 on the eastern edge of the old cemetery. It was built in 1808 as East Warriston House and converted in 1928/9. Writer Robert Louis Stevenson was born in Warriston. There is a small housing estate near Warriston Cemetery locally known as Easter Warriston. Lowland Football League
The Scottish Lowland Football League (SLFL, commonly known as the Lowland League) is a senior football league based in central and southern Scotland. The league sits at level 5 on the Scottish football league system, acting as a feeder to the Scottish Professional Football League, and is above three regional leagues at level 6. Founded in 2013, it is currently composed of 19 member clubs in a single division. Geographically, the league covers an area south of Dundee in the Lowlands area of Scotland. Since 2014-15, it has featured in the senior pyramid system.
