Edilberto Evangelista
Edilberto Evangelista (February 24, 1862 – February 17, 1897) was a Filipino civil engineer and a revolutionary. Early life and career He was born in Sta. Cruz, Manila, on February 24, 1862. Evangelista finished his Bachelor of Arts at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran in 1878. He was awarded a medal of excellence in Mathematics. Poor health made him to drop his idea of studying medicine. After this, he became a teacher, a cattle dealer, a tobacco merchant between Cebu and Manila, and later a contractor of public works. He soon went to Madrid in 1890. It was during this time that he befriended many Filipino patriots, including José Rizal, who advised him to study engineering in Belgium. He therefore enrolled at the University of Ghent, one of the world's top engineering schools, and finished civil engineering and architecture with highest honors. Santa Cruz, Manila
Santa Cruz is a district in the northern part of the City of Manila, Philippines, located on the right bank of the Pasig River near its mouth, bordered by the districts of Tondo, Binondo, Quiapo, and Sampaloc, as well as the areas of Grace Park and Barrio San Jose in Caloocan and the district of La Loma in Quezon City. Quiapo () is a district of the city of Manila, in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. Jose Montalvan
Jose Manuel Corrales Montalvan was a Filipino military officer, Dentist and Lawyer who fought in Mindanao during World War II. Early life born on March 17, 1903, in present-day Cagayan de Oro. (then known as Cagayan de Misamis, the capital town of the Segundo Distrito de Misamis) to Jose Gabriel Montalvan y Bello, a Spaniard from Belmonte, Cuenca, Spain who was assigned by the Spanish government to the Philippines, and Concepcion Corrales y Roa of Cagayan de Misamis. Career In 1927, Montalvan graduated with honors (3rd highest) from the Philippine Dental College, Manila with a degree of Doctor in Dental Surgery. Upon his return to his hometown in 1928, he practiced dentistry and became one of the first teachers of the Ateneo de Cagayan (present day Xavier University) and was its Commandant of the Corps of Cadets. Miguel Malvar
Miguel Malvar y Carpio (September 27, 1865 – October 13, 1911) was a Filipino general who served during the Philippine Revolution and, subsequently, during the Philippine–American War. He assumed command of the Philippine revolutionary forces during the latter, following the capture of resistance leader Emilio Aguinaldo by the Americans in 1901. According to some historians, he could have been listed as one of the presidents of the Philippines but, , is not recognized as such by the Philippine government.
