Edgemont, Calgary
Edgemont is a residential area, residential neighbourhood in northwest Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and is located north of the community of Dalhousie, Calgary, Dalhousie. It is also bounded by John Laurie Boulevard to the south, Sarcee Trail to the west, Country Hills Boulevard to the north, and Shaganappi Trail to the east. Much of Edgemont is a northwest extension of Nose Hill, as evidenced by the steep escarpments at the southeast end of the community. The elevated position of Edgemont (1245m at its highest) provides views of the Downtown Calgary, city to the south and the Canadian Rockies, Rocky Mountains to the west. The community began development in 1978, and was recently completed. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 4 councillor. North Edwards (formerly, Edgemont Acres and North Muroc) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kern County, California. Situated in the Mojave Desert, North Edwards is located about north-east of Edwards Air Force Base, at an elevation of . As of the 2010 census it had a population of 1,058. History A developer announced in June 1955 that he was building houses on Clay Mine Road, within of the north gate of the military installation. Soon construction was underway by other builders. In March 1960, the ''Boron Enterprise'' reported that in the "bustling community" north of the base more than 1,000 residents were living in a half dozen subdivisions. ''Edgemont'' is a Canadian television series that aired from 2000 to 2004. It revolved around the everyday dealings of teenagers in Edgemont, a fictitious suburb of Vancouver, British Columbia. ''Edgemont'' debuted January 4, 2000, on CBC Television and aired its final episode on July 21, 2004. There were a total of 70 episodes during its five-season run; the fifth season was shown commercial-free on the CBC. Edgemont Village is a neighbourhood within the District of North Vancouver, in British Columbia, Canada. It is situated between several converging suburbs, centering on the intersection of Edgemont Blv and Highland Blv, where it is a minor residential and commercial center for local communities. SEPTA Routes 101 and 102, also known as the Media–Sharon Hill Line, are light rail lines operated by the Suburban Transit Division of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, serving portions of Delaware County. The routes' eastern terminus is 69th Street Transportation Center in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. Route 101 runs to Media, while Route 102 goes to Sharon Hill. Edgemont (Covesville, Virginia)
Edgemont, also known as Cocke Farm, is a historic home located near Covesville, Albemarle County, Virginia. It was built about 1796, and is a one- to two-story, three-bay, frame structure in the Jeffersonian style. It measures 50 feet by 50 feet, and sits on a stuccoed stone exposed basement. The house is topped by a hipped roof surmounted by four slender chimneys. The entrances feature pedimented Tuscan order portico that consists of Tuscan columns supporting a full entablature. Also on the property is a rubble stone garden outbuilding with a hipped roof. The house was restored in 1948 by Charlottesville architect Milton Grigg (1905–1982). Its design closely resembles Folly near Staunton, Virginia.
