Edgemar, located at 2415–2449 Main Street in Santa Monica, California, is a mixed-use shopping center designed by architect Frank Gehry that combines early 19th century warehouses, a 1940s Art Deco office building and new construction. History 1908–1984 In 1908, the Imperial Ice Company built an 8,000 square foot warehouse at the back of its property at 2435 Main Street in Santa Monica, California. Another 3,000 square foot warehouse was added beside it in 1928. With the advent of refrigeration in the 1940s leading to a decline in the ice business, the Santa Monica Dairy Company, minority partners in the Imperial Ice Company, bought the property for the egg-processing division of their dairy. The Santa Monica Dairy Company, founded by Swiss immigrant Herman Michel, was the oldest dairy in Los Angeles County. Michelle Danner is an American acting coach at the Los Angeles Acting School who specializes in the Meisner, Strasberg, Adler, Hagen, Chekhov and Stanislavsky techniques. Bergamot Station Arts Center is a Santa Monica facility housing many different private art galleries and appears in most tourist guides as a primary cultural destination. Opened September 17, 1994 as Bergamot Station the campus-like complex is owned by the city of Santa Monica and presently managed by the Worthe Group. History Formerly "Bergamot Station" the site was previously a stop and car storage area from 1875 to 1953, first serving the steam-powered Los Angeles and Independence Railroad and later the Santa Monica Air Line. Mineko Grimmer
Mineko Grimmer (, born 1949) is a Los Angeles-based installation sound artist. Her work is influenced by both Eastern and Western cultures. She is inspired by the chance elements of John Cage as well as notions of time in Shinto shrines and Zen Gardens. Sound and silence are key elements in her work. The sculptures are finely crafted out of materials like bamboo, redwood, stone and water. Hal Glicksman (born 1937) is an American curator of contemporary art, educator, and writer. Family and education Glicksman was born in Beverly Hills, California. He attended Beverly Hills High School between 1951–1955 and UCLA 1955–59. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art History in 1956. Career Glicksman's career began when he worked as a preparator at Norton Simon Museum that was under the direction of the curator Walter Hopps.
