Edenvale (San Jose)
Edenvale is a neighborhood of San Jose, California, in South San Jose. History Edenvale was once a town, named with reference to the Garden of Eden, because of the beauty and fertility of the place. One of the oldest buildings in the area is Hayes Mansion. The Union Pacific Railroad and historic Monterey Road runs through the area, which is also known as El Camino Real. The railroad line carries Amtrak's "Coast Starlight." The most popular recent history of the neighborhood includes Frontier Village, which was an amusement park operated from 1961 to 1980. Most of the land was redeveloped into residential housing. Geography Edenvale is located in South San Jose. It is bound by Seven Trees to its north, Blossom Valley to its south/west, Santa Teresa to its south/east, and the Silver Creek Hills to its east. Hayes Mansion
The Hayes Mansion is a historic mansion estate in the Edenvale neighborhood of San Jose, California. The mansion currently operates as a hotel resort and is currently known as Hayes Mansion San Jose, Curio Collection by Hilton. The hotel has been a member oHistoric Hotels of America the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, since 2019. Originally the home of the Hayes family, the mansion is regarded as one of the best examples of late 19th-century Mission Revival architecture in the Santa Clara Valley. It is a California Historical Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Coast Starlight
The ''Coast Starlight'' is a passenger train operated by Amtrak on the West Coast of the United States between Seattle and Los Angeles via Portland and the San Francisco Bay Area. The train, which has operated continuously since Amtrak's formation in 1971, was the first to offer direct service between Seattle and Los Angeles. Its name is a combination of two prior Southern Pacific (SP) trains, the ''Coast Daylight'' and the ''Starlight''. During fiscal year (FY) 2019, the ''Coast Starlight'' carried 426,029 passengers, an increase of 2.0% from FY 2018.
