Eddie Haddad
Eddie Haddad (February 20, 1928 in Winnipeg, Manitoba – August 14, 1978 in Chilliwack, British Columbia) was a boxer primarily active in the 1940s in Manitoba and British Columbia. His first major international tournament was at the 1948 Olympic Games as a lightweight boxer where he lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual gold medalist, Joseph Vissers of Belgium. Haddad was also a Canadian team member of the 1950 British Empire Games (now called the Commonwealth Games). Manitoba Sports Hall Of Fame
The Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum is a Canadian museum in Winnipeg, Manitoba, dedicated to honoring the history and achievements of sports in Manitoba. The organization began in 1980, and then opened a museum in The Forks in 1993. After five years, the museum moved to The Bay store on Portage Avenue. Its present-day location is the Sport Manitoba building (145 Pacific Ave.), where it had its grand opening on October 27, 2012. Exhibits of Manitoba's sports teams and honoured athletes are displayed in the museum. The Hall of Fame inducts both individuals as well as teams. The Golden Boy is an award that is given by sports journalists to a young footballer playing in Europe perceived to have been the most impressive during a calendar year (two halves to two separate seasons). All nominees must be under the age of 21 and play in a European nation's top tier. The 2022 edition was won by Barcelona's Gavi.
