Eddie (mascot)
Eddie (also known as Eddie the Head) is the mascot for the English heavy metal band Iron Maiden. He is a perennial fixture of the group's artwork, appearing in all of their album covers (as well as most of their singles) and in their merchandise, which includes T-shirts, posters and action figures. On top of this, Eddie features in all of the band's concerts, as well as in the first-person shooter video game, ''Ed Hunter'', the mobile game, ''Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast'' and a pinball game with the same name in 2018. Originally a papier-mâché mask used in Iron Maiden's stage backdrop, the band transferred the name "Eddie" from the mask to an illustration by Derek Riggs, which was used as the band's debut album cover. Although he is occasionally described as "zombie-like" in the press, Eddie assumes a different guise relating to the themes of individual albums and their corresponding world tours, and has appeared as a cyborg, an Egyptian mummy and a lobotomised mental pat ...

Flo & Eddie
Flo & Eddie is a comedy rock duo consisting of Mark Volman (Flo, short for Phlorescent Leech) and Howard Kaylan (Eddie). The two were the original founding members of the Top 40 mid-to late 1960s rock and pop group The Turtles. After the Turtles dissolved in 1970, Volman and Kaylan first joined Frank Zappa's band The Mothers of Invention as Phlorescent Leech & Eddie. Contractual restrictions imposed early in their career prevented Volman and Kaylan from using the name The Turtles, as well as their own names, in a musical context. History Career beginnings When The Mothers of Invention bandleader Frank Zappa was injured during a concert in London in 1971, Kaylan and Volman, former founders of the band The Turtles, active from 1965 to 1970, found each other at an impasse, as the group was out of action for a time. They responded to these events by recording '' The Phlorescent Leech & Eddie'' on Reprise Records with most of the other members of the Mothers of Invention. Although ...

Eddie (crater)
Eddie is a crater in the Elysium quadrangle of Mars. It is 89 km in diameter and was named after Lindsay Eddie, a South African astronomer (1845–1913). Impact craters generally have a rim with ejecta around them, in contrast volcanic craters usually do not have a rim or ejecta deposits. As craters get larger (greater than 10 km in diameter) they usually have a central peak, as this crater has. The peak is caused by a rebound of the crater floor following the impact. It contains material uplifted from beneath the surface. The InSight Mars lander landed south and west of Eddie crater in 2018. Elysium map.JPG, Map of Elysium quadrangle. Eddy (fluid Dynamics)
In fluid dynamics, an eddy is the swirling of a fluid and the reverse current created when the fluid is in a turbulent flow regime. The moving fluid creates a space devoid of downstream-flowing fluid on the downstream side of the object. Fluid behind the obstacle flows into the void creating a swirl of fluid on each edge of the obstacle, followed by a short reverse flow of fluid behind the obstacle flowing upstream, toward the back of the obstacle. This phenomenon is naturally observed behind large emergent rocks in swift-flowing rivers. An eddy is a movement of fluid that deviates from the general flow of the fluid. An example for an eddy is a vortex which produces such deviation. However, there are other types of eddies that are not simple vortices. For example, a Rossby wave is an eddy which is an undulation that is a deviation from mean flow, but doesn't have the local closed streamlines of a vortex. Swirl and eddies in engineering The propensity of a fluid to swirl is used ...
