Ed Video Media Arts Centre
Ed Video Media Arts Centre (aka Ed Video ) is an artist-run centre with a focus on video art, but also serving all forms of media art. The organization Ed Video Incorporated was officially formed in in Guelph, Ontario, Canada and has since gained non-profit and then charitable status. Ed Video is a hub for video, film and media artists working at a range of experience and financial levels. The centre supports these artists with affordable access to production equipment, training, social events, and a year-long gallery program. It is Guelph's only artist-run centre and one of these oldest organizations of its kind within Canada. Guelph
Guelph ( ; 2021 Canadian Census population 143,740) is a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Known as "The Royal City", Guelph is roughly east of Kitchener and west of Downtown Toronto, at the intersection of Highway 6, Highway 7 and Wellington County Road 124. It is the seat of Wellington County, but is politically independent of it. Guelph began as a settlement in the 1820s, established by Scotsman John Galt, who was in Upper Canada as the first Superintendent of the Canada Company. He based the headquarters, and his home, in the community. The area – much of which became Wellington County – had been part of the Halton Block, a Crown Reserve for the Six Nations Iroquois. Janet Cardiff
Janet Cardiff (born March 15, 1957) is a Canadian artist who works chiefly with sound and sound installations, often in collaboration with her husband and partner George Bures Miller. Cardiff first gained international recognition in the art world for her audio walks in 1995. She lives and works in British Columbia, Canada. Early life and education Janet Cardiff was born in 1957 in Brussels, Ontario, Canada, and grew up on a farm outside of a small village. In 1980, she earned her BFA from Queens University, Kingston, Ontario. In 1983 she earned an MVA from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. While studying at Edmonton, she met George Bures Miller who would become her husband and collaborator. Gabriel Carrer is a film director and screenwriter who helmed the 2010 underground horror success If a Tree Falls (Raven Banner Entertainment), which premiered at the Fantasia International Film Festival. He returned to Fantasia in 2015 with The Demolisher (Darksky Films), winning the Silver Audience Award, and gained acclaim at festivals worldwide (Vancouver International Film Festival, Sitges, Hardline, Toronto After Dark Film & Feratum). Nick DenBoer is a Canadian film and music video director. Early life and education DenBoer was born in Clinton, Ontario on December 25, 1979. He moved to Toronto, Ontario in 1998 and studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design for 2 years before dropping out. He then started a construction company in Toronto while working in video and animation business on the side. Eduardo Kac dwardoʊ kæts; ĕd·wâr′·dō kăts(1962) is a contemporary artist of dual nationality (American and Brazilian) whose artworks span a wide range of practices, including performance art, poetry, holography, interactive art, digital and online art, and bio art. Lisa Conway-Bühler, also known as LCON, is a Canadian musician, vocalist, composer and producer. She has performed as part of The Owle Bird, Chrome and the Ice Queen, and is the former singer and lyricist of Toronto-based Del Bel. Since 2016 she has co-owned and operated the recording and production studio Wildlife Sanctuary Sound in Grey County, Ontario.
