Ed Robertson
Lloyd Edward Elwyn Robertson (born October 25, 1970) is a Canadian musician, best known as the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter of the band Barenaked Ladies. He, along with former member Steven Page, founded the group in 1988. As of Page's departure in 2009, Robertson and bassist Jim Creeggan are the only remaining original members of the band. Biography Early and personal life Robertson was born in Scarborough, Ontario. He is the youngest of five children, with two sisters, Lynn and Bonnie, and two brothers, Bill and Doug; He claims to have been named on a bet. Rush (band)
Rush was a Canadian rock band formed in 1968 in Toronto, that was comprised primarily of Geddy Lee (bass, vocals), Alex Lifeson (guitar), and Neil Peart (drums, percussion, lyricist). The band formed in Toronto in 1968 by Lifeson, drummer John Rutsey, and bass guitarist/vocalist Jeff Jones, who was immediately replaced by Lee. After Lee joined, the band went through several lineup configurations before arriving at its classic power trio lineup with the addition of Peart in July 1974, who replaced Rutsey four months after the release of their 1974 self-titled debut album; this lineup remained intact for the remainder of the band's career. ''Maroon'' is the fifth full-length studio album by Barenaked Ladies. The album was the follow-up to 1998's ''Stunt'', the band's most successful album in the United States. ''Maroon'' debuted at No. 1 in Canada (their second to reach No. 1 after their 1992's debut ''Gordon'') and No. 5 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' 200. In its first week, the album sold 17,800 copies in Canada and just under 128,000 in the U.S. It has sold at least 1 million copies in the U.S. alone. The album spawned three hit singles : "Pinch Me", "Too Little Too Late" and " Falling for the First Time". Unlike past albums, the songs came almost entirely from the pairing of Page/Robertson. ''Stunt'' is the fourth full-length studio album by Canadian alternative rock band Barenaked Ladies. Their most successful album, it entered the US charts at No. 3 and sold over 4 million units by the end of its chart run. Its first single, "One Week" became the band's breakthrough single in the US market by hitting No. 1 (selling over 5 million copies). The song also reached No. 5 in the UK, and helped revitalize their career in the band's home country of Canada, where their fame had diminished since the days of their debut album ''Gordon''. ''Maybe You Should Drive'' (commonly abbreviated MYSD) is the second studio album by Barenaked Ladies. It was released in August 1994 and went double platinum in Canada, reaching No. 3 upon its release. It was also their first album to chart in the US, peaking at No. 175 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Unlike on their previous album ''Gordon'', Steven Page and Ed Robertson did not collaborate as frequently. As with each of their early albums, the band recorded one song, "Intermittently", completely naked. Tracks cut from the album include "Break Your Heart" and "Trust Me", both of which were later re-recorded for ''Born on a Pirate Ship''; the former was re-worked and appeared on that album, while the latter was cut again, and appeared as a B-side on the '' Shoe Box EP''. Bancroft, Ontario
Bancroft () is a town located on the York River in Hastings County in the Canadian province of Ontario. It was first settled in the 1850s by United Empire Loyalists and Irish immigrants. From the mid-1950s to about 1982, mining was the primary industry. A village until 1999, Bancroft then merged with Dungannon Township to form the Town of Bancroft. Andy Creeggan
Andrew Burnett Creeggan (born July 4, 1971) is a former member of the Canadian alternative rock band Barenaked Ladies. He was also a member of the trio The Brothers Creeggan, and a solo artist having released three albums. Career Barenaked Ladies Creeggan was born in Scarborough, Ontario. Along with his brother Jim, he was invited by Ed Robertson and Steven Page (then performing as Barenaked Ladies as a duo) to play a Christmastime club show with them in Toronto, with Andy playing conga drums. The two were then invited to join the band. Only six months later, at the beginning of the summer of 1990, he joined the Canada World Youth exchange program for a trip to South America. ''Behind the Music'' is a documentary television series on VH1. Each episode profiles and interviews a popular musical artist or group. The program examines the beginning of their career, their road to success, and the hardships they may have encountered. In 2021, it was announced that the series would be rebooted by Paramount+, which premiered on July 29, 2021. Premise Each show focuses on a musician or musical group, documenting both the successes of the musicians and the problems they faced during their careers.
