Ed Murawinski
Edward Murawinski (born November 3, 1951 in Jersey City, New Jersey) is an American cartoonist. He was formerly employed by the ''New York Daily News'' in New York City as an artist and is currently a member of the National Cartoonist Society. He attended Manhattan's School of Visual Arts and was employed by the ''Daily News'' from 1968 to 2015. Early life Murawinski was born on November 3, 1951 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Walter A. Murawinski, a supervisor with the U.S. Postal Service, and his wife, Anna. He has two brothers, Walter and Joseph, and two sisters, Agnes and Mary, the latter of whom worked as a graphic designer. Murawinski grew up in North Bergen, New Jersey, constantly drawing and doodling from an early age, explaining, "We didn't have art classes when I went to St. Joseph of the Palisades. New York Daily News
The New York ''Daily News'', officially titled the ''Daily News'', is an American newspaper based in Jersey City, NJ. It was founded in 1919 by Joseph Medill Patterson as the ''Illustrated Daily News''. It was the first U.S. daily printed in tabloid format. It reached its peak circulation in 1947, at 2.4 million copies a day. As of 2019 it was the eleventh-highest circulated newspaper in the United States. 2015 World Series
The 2015 World Series was the championship series of Major League Baseball's (MLB) 2015 season. The 111th edition of the World Series, it was a best-of-seven playoff between the National League (NL) champion New York Mets and the American League (AL) champion Kansas City Royals. The series was played between October 27 and November 1, with the Royals winning the series 4games to 1, clinching the team's second World Series and first since the 1985 series. National Cartoonists Society
The National Cartoonists Society (NCS) is an organization of professional cartoonists in the United States. It presents the National Cartoonists Society Awards. The Society was born in 1946 when groups of cartoonists got together to entertain the troops. They enjoyed each other's company and decided to meet on a regular basis. NCS members work in many branches of the profession, including advertising, animation, newspaper comic strips and syndicated single-panel cartoons, comic books, editorial cartoons, gag cartoons, graphic novels, greeting cards, magazine and book illustration. Only recently has the National Cartoonists Society embraced web comics.
