Ed Husmann
Edward Earl Husmann (August 6, 1931 - August 30, 2018) was an American football defensive tackle who played in the American Football League (AFL) for the Houston Oilers. He also played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Chicago Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Early years Husmann attended Ogallala High School, earning All-state and All-conference honors as a senior in football. He also played basketball, ran track and wrestled. He walked-on to the University of Nebraska. He became a starter as a senior, at right tackle on both sides of the ball. He was also a member of the wrestling team, and won the Big Seven Conference heavyweight wrestling championship as a senior. In 2004, he was inducted into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame. Defensive Tackle
A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that will typically line up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the offensive guards, however he may also line up opposite one of the tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's individual defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. Fumble
A fumble in gridiron football occurs when a player who has possession and control of the ball loses it before being downed (tackled), scoring, or going out of bounds. Big Eight Conference
The Big Eight Conference was a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)-affiliated Division I-A college athletic association that sponsored football.
