Ed Gainey (Canadian Football)
Edward Eugene Gainey (born June 6, 1990) is a Canadian football defensive back for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at Appalachian State University. He has also been a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Montreal Alouettes and Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL. Early years Gainey played high school football at Mount Tabor High School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was a two-time all-region selection and Shrine Bowl participant. He intercepted six passes, forced three fumbles and was the team’s second-leading tackler his senior year as the Spartans advanced to the 4-A state championship game. Gainey led the state with 13 interceptions as a junior. College career Gainey played for the Appalachian State Mountaineers football, Appalachian State Mountaineers from 2008 to 2011. BC Lions
The BC Lions are a professional Canadian football team based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Lions compete in the West Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL), and play their home games at BC Place. The Lions played their first season in 1954, and have played every season since, making them the oldest professional sports franchise in British Columbia. They have appeared in the league's Grey Cup championship game 10 times, winning six, with their most recent championship occurring in 2011.
