Ed Blankmeyer
Ed Blankmeyer (born December 15, 1954) is an American professional baseball coach and former second baseman. He is the manager of the Brooklyn Cyclones of the New York–Penn League. Career Blankmeyer played college baseball at Seton Hall University from 1973 to 1976. He served as an assistant coach at Seton Hall before serving as the head baseball coach at St. John's University (New York City), St. John's University from 1996 to 2019. Under Blankmeyer, St. John's won six Big East Conference (1979–2013), Big East Conference Regular season Championships and five Big East Tournament championships. They appeared in ten NCAA Regionals and one NCAA Super Regional. Brooklyn Cyclones
The Brooklyn Cyclones are a Minor League Baseball team of the South Atlantic League and the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets. They are based in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, and play at Maimonides Park, just off the Coney Island Boardwalk. From their founding in 2001 through 2020, the Cyclones competed in the Class A Short Season New York–Penn League (NYPL). Brooklyn won six division titles and two NYPL championships. In 2001, the Cyclones were declared co-league champions with the Williamsport Crosscutters, being forced to prematurely end their championship series due to the September 11 attacks, despite the Cyclones leading the series one game to none. The 2008 NCAA Division I baseball tournament was held from May 30 through June 25, 2008 and was part of the 2008 NCAA Division I baseball season. The 64 NCAA Division I college baseball teams were selected out of an eligible 286 teams on May 26, 2008. Thirty teams were awarded an automatic bid as champions of their conference, and 34 teams were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. Sixty-four NCAA Division I college baseball teams advanced to the post season tournament after having played through a regular season, and for some, a conference tournament.
