''Economica'' is a peer-reviewed academic journal of generalist economics published on behalf of the London School of Economics by Wiley-Blackwell. Established in 1921, it is currently edited by Nava Ashraf, Oriana Bandiera, Tim Besley, Francesco Caselli, Maitreesh Ghatak, Stephen Machin, Ian Martin, and Gianmarco Ottaviano. Gianmarco Ottaviano
Gianmarco Ireo Paolo Ottaviano (born in Milan on September 29, 1967) is an Italian economist and Professor of Economics at Bocconi University. Biography A native of Milan, Gianmarco Ottaviano earned a bachelor's degree in Economic and Social Sciences from Bocconi University in 1991, followed by a M.Sc. in economics from the London School of Economics in 1993, a diploma in international economics from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva in 1994, a doctorate from Bari in 1995 and a Ph.D. in economics under Jacques-François Thisse at the Université Catholique de Louvain in 1998. He then took up a position as assistant professor of economics at the University of Bologna, followed by an associate professorship at Bocconi in 2000, and a full professorship at Bologna in 2002. Stephen Machin
Stephen Jonathan Machin (born 23 December 1962) is a British economist and professor of economics at the London School of Economics (LSE). Moreover, he is currently director of the Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) and is a fellow of the British Academy, the Society of Labor Economists and the European Economic Association. His current research interests include labour market inequality, the economics of education, and the economics of crime. Biography Stephen Machin earned a B.A. in economics from Wolverhampton Polytechnic in 1985 as well as a Ph.D. from the University of Warwick in 1988, wherein he analysed the impact of trade unions on economic performance. Oriana Bandiera
Oriana Bandiera, FBA (born 26 August 1971) is an Italian economist and academic, specialising in development economics. She has been Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics since 2009. She is currently the Sir Anthony Atkinson Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics, and co-editor of Econometrica. Her area of study primarily concerns organizations and labor markets, and their relationship with the process of economic development. Maitreesh Ghatak
Maitreesh Ghatak (born 7 February 1968) is an Indian economist who is the Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics. He is an applied microeconomic theorist with research interests in economic development, public economics, and the economics of organisations. Works His research interests include microfinance, property rights, occupational choice, collective action, and the economics of NGOs and non-profits. He did his schooling in Patha Bhavan, Kolkata and went on to do his undergraduate studies at Presidency College, Kolkata. He has a M.A. in economics from the Delhi School of Economics and a PhD in economics from Harvard University under the supervision of Eric Maskin and Abhijit Banerjee. Tim Besley
Sir Timothy John Besley, (born 14 September 1960) is a British academic economist who is the School Professor of Economics and Political Science and Sir W. Arthur Lewis Professor of Development Economics at the London School of Economics (LSE). He is also a commissioner on the National Infrastructure Commission, a Quondam Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, and the director of the Suntory and Toyota International Centres for Economics and Related Disciplines (STICERD) at the LSE. Nava Ashraf
Nava Ashraf is a Canadian economist who is a professor of economics at the London School of Economics as well as research director of the Marshall Institute for Philanthropy and Social Entrepreneurship. Her research interests include development economics, behavioral economics, and family economics. Biography Ashraf earned a B.A. in economics from Stanford University in 1998, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University in 2003 and 2005, respectively. Francesco Caselli
Francesco Caselli (born 14 October 1966) is the Norman Sosnow Professor of Economics and the Head of the Department of Economics at the London School of Economics (LSE). His work includes contributions to the understanding convergence and cross-country income differentials. Biography Caselli got his Laurea in Economics and Commerce from the University of Bologna in 1991 and his PhD in Economics at Harvard University in 1997. He was an assistant professor of economics at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business from 1997 to 2000, and moved to Harvard in 2000, where he was the Paul Sack Associate Professor of Political Economy from 2002 to 2005.
