Ecologists Without Borders
Ecologists Without Borders Association ( sl, Društvo Ekologi brez meja) is a non-profit environmentalist organization founded in March 2009 in Slovenia with the intent of organizing environmental projects. The organization has its headquarters in Ljubljana, with members spread throughout the country. In 2010 and 2012, the association organized the largest environmental volunteer action in Slovenia, which attracted over 13% of the residents (over 270,000 people out of ca. 2 million inhabitants), including the heads of the state, the military and hundreds of organizations. Both ''Let's Clean Slovenia in One Day!'' (2010) and ''Let's Clean Slovenia 2012'' broke the record as the largest civic initiatives in modern Slovenia, each time joining over 13% of the country's population. Non-governmental Organization
A non-governmental organization (NGO) or non-governmental organisation (see spelling differences) is an organization that generally is formed independent from government. Zero Waste
Zero waste is a set of principles focused on waste prevention that encourages redesigning resource life cycles so that all products are reused. The goal of this movement is to avoid sending trash to landfills, incinerators, or the ocean. Currently, only 9% of global plastic is recycled. In a zero waste system, the material will be reused until the optimum level of consumption is reached. The definition adopted by the ''Zero Waste International Alliance'' (ZWIA) is: Zero Waste: The conservation of all resources by means of responsible production, consumption, reuse and, recovery of all products, packaging, and materials, without burning them and without discharges to land, water, or air that threaten the environment or human health. Let's Do It! World
Let's Do It World is a global civic organization that started from Estonia, mobilizing people worldwide in joining local, national and regional clean-up events. Among other projects, it is the founder of World Cleanup Day, on which a network of 180 countries, with over 21.2 million participants took place in 2019. The Let's Do It! organization was first conceived in Estonia in 2008, where a country clean-up action called '' Let's do it!'' (in Estonian: "Teeme ära!") cleaned up tons of illegal waste by more than volunteers in one day. Following Estonia's lead, many countries also started their own country clean-up events. Let's Do It! In economics, a common-pool resource (CPR) is a type of good consisting of a natural or human-made resource system (e.g. an irrigation system or fishing grounds), whose size or characteristics makes it costly, but not impossible, to exclude potential beneficiaries from obtaining benefits from its use. Unlike pure public goods, common pool resources face problems of congestion or overuse, because they are subtractable. A common-pool resource typically consists of a core resource (e.g. water or fish), which defines the ''stock variable'', while providing a limited quantity of extractable fringe units, which defines the ''flow variable''. Siol.net is a Slovenian web media and the oldest news portal in Slovenia. It is owned and managed by TSmedia company that is itself owned by the Telekom Slovenije. The main contents cover daily politics, news, sports, technology, lifestyle, and motoring. Since 2020, Peter Jančič serves as the editor-in-chief. History Siol.net was established in 1996 by Telekom Slovenije. It was the first online news portal in Slovenia and has seen a number of visual changes over the years. Resource Efficiency
Resource efficiency is the maximising of the supply of money, materials, staff, and other assets that can be drawn on by a person or organization in order to function effectively, with minimum wasted (natural) resource expenses. It means using the Earth's limited resources in a sustainable manner while minimising environmental impact. Motivation A 2014 report by The Carbon Trust suggested that resource challenges are intensifying rapidly – for example, there could be a 40% gap between available water supplies and water needs by 2030, and some critical materials could be in short supply as soon as 2016. These challenges could lead to disruptions to supply, growing regulatory requirements, volatile fluctuation of prices, and may ultimately threaten the viability of existing business models.
