Echoes Of Honor
''Echoes of Honor'' is a science fiction novel by American writer David Weber. It is the eighth book in the Honor Harrington series. The novel is divided into six "books". Books 1, 3 and 5 describe the unfolding course of the Manticore-Haven war, while Books 2, 4 and 6 focus on the exploits of Honor and her allies on the prison planet Hades, also known as "Hell". Plot summary At the start of the narrative, it seems that Honor has passed away, with her "execution" being televised on a holo-disc. In response, both Grayson and Manticore hold state funerals, with an empty casket laid to rest in the Royal Cathedral. While the Manticoran people are stunned by the news of Honor's demise, the Graysons are utterly incensed. However, the footage was faked because Honor is still alive and plotting her return. David Weber
David Mark Weber (born October 24, 1952) is an American science fiction and fantasy author. He has written several science-fiction and fantasy books series, the best known of which is the Honorverse, Honor Harrington science-fiction series. His debut novel, first novel, which he worked on with Steve White, sold in 1989 to Baen Books. Baen remains Weber's major publisher. Writing career Born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 24, 1952, Weber began writing while in elementary school, fifth grade. Some of Weber's first jobs within the writing/advertising world began after high school when he worked as copywriter, typesetter, proofreader, and paste-up artist. He later earned an undergraduate degree from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina and a Master of Arts, M.A. in history from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. David Mattingly (illustrator)
David Burroughs Mattingly (born June 29, 1956) is an American illustrator and painter, best known for his numerous book covers of science fiction and fantasy literature. Early life and career Mattingly was born in and grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado, and was inspired at age twelve to enter the visual arts, and discovered matte art. Mattingly first attended Colorado Institute of Art, then transferred to Art Center College of Art and Design. He left from there to take a job as a matte artist at Disney Studios. There he worked on the production of ''The Black Hole''. He also worked on films including ''Tron'', ''Dick Tracy'', '' The Watcher in the Woods'', and Stephen King's ''The Stand'' miniseries. After seven years, he became the head of the matte department there. He later worked on the films ''I, Robot'' and ''Hail, Caesar!''. Plot summary The book begins hours after the end of the previous novel.
