Echo In The Canyon (soundtrack)
''Echo in the Canyon'' is a soundtrack for the documentary film of the same name. Reception Aidin Vaziri of ''The San Francisco Chronicle'' said the soundtrack "rings hollow", stating, "Dylan’s deep, oddly expressionless voice doesn’t necessarily do any favors to a genre known for its marked warmth, and his slick band of studio musicians adds to the disconnect," while praising the talent of the album's many guests. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of ''AllMusic'' commented, "Since everybody involved is a pro, this is tight, not loose, which means every cut feels a little too tidy and straight. Dylan proves to be an amiable host, ..and the mellow camaraderie is appealing and even ingratiating. It isn't especially compelling, though." Track listing All led by Jakob Dylan. Personnel *Fiona Apple – vocals *Beck – vocals *Justine Bennett – backing vocals *D.J. Bonebrake – vibraphone *Jade Castrinos – vocals *Lenny Castro – congas, percussion * Matt Chamberlain – drums * ...

Never My Love
"Never My Love" is a pop standard written by American siblings Don and Dick Addrisi, and best known from a hit 1967 recording by the Association. The Addrisi Brothers had two Top 40 hits as recording artists, but their biggest success as songwriters was "Never My Love". Recorded by dozens of notable artists in the decades since, in 1999 the music publishing rights organization Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) announced it was the second most-played song on radio and television of the 20th century in the U.S. History The first recording of "Never My Love" to achieve success was by the Association, an American sunshine pop band from California. Their version of the song, recorded with members of the Wrecking Crew, peaked at number two on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart, kept out of the number one spot by " The Letter" by the Box Tops, and hit number one on the '' Cashbox'' charts in October 1967, one of the band's five top-ten hits in the late 1960s. Vibraphone
The vibraphone is a percussion instrument in the metallophone family. It consists of tuned metal bars and is typically played by using mallets to strike the bars. A person who plays the vibraphone is called a ''vibraphonist,'' ''vibraharpist,'' or ''vibist''. The vibraphone resembles the steel marimba, which it superseded. One of the main differences between the vibraphone and other keyboard percussion instruments is that each bar suspends over a resonator tube containing a flat metal disc. These discs are attached together by a common axle and spin when the motor is turned on. This causes the instrument to produce its namesake tremolo or vibrato effect. The vibraphone also has a sustain pedal similar to a piano. When the pedal is up, the bars produce a muted sound; when the pedal is down, the bars sustain for several seconds or until again muted with the pedal. The vibraphone is commonly used in jazz music, in which it often plays a featured role, and was a defining element ...

Fifth Dimension (album)
''Fifth Dimension'' is the third album by the American rock band the Byrds and was released in July 1966 on Columbia Records. Most of the album was recorded following the February 1966 departure of the band's principal songwriter Gene Clark. In an attempt to compensate for Clark's absence, guitarists Jim McGuinn and David Crosby increased their songwriting output. In spite of this, the loss of Clark resulted in an album with four cover versions and an instrumental, which critics have described as "wildly uneven" and "awkward and scattered". However, it was the first Byrds album not to include any songs written by Bob Dylan, whose material had previously been a mainstay of the band's repertoire. The album peaked at number 24 on the ''Billboard'' Top LPs chart and reached number 27 on the UK Albums Chart. Two preceding singles, "Eight Miles High" and " 5D (Fifth Dimension)", were included on the album, with the former just missing the Top 10 of the ''Billboard'' singles chart. Ad ...

Expecting To Fly (song)
"Expecting to Fly" is a song written by Neil Young and performed by Buffalo Springfield. The song appeared on their 1967 album, '' Buffalo Springfield Again''. It would reach #98 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1968. During one of the times that Young had left the band, he booked a studio to record the song with outside musicians under the impression that it would be for a Neil Young solo project rather than for Buffalo Springfield. Producer Jack Nitzsche provided the orchestral arrangement featuring a string section plus an English horn. The song does not feature any members of the Springfield other than Young. Live versions from Young's early solo performances appear on the albums ''Live at the Riverboat 1969'', '' Sugar Mountain – Live at Canterbury House 1968'', and '' Live at the Cellar Door''. In the 2018 music documentary film, ''Echo in the Canyon'', it is suggested "Expecting to Fly" marks and exemplifies a shift in a late 1960s's movement from group-oriented folk r ...

I Just Wasn't Made For These Times
"I Just Wasn't Made for These Times" is a song by American rock band the Beach Boys from their 1966 album ''Pet Sounds''. Written by Brian Wilson and Tony Asher, the lyrics describe the disillusionment of someone who struggles to fit into society. Musically, it is distinguished for its melodic bass guitar, layered vocals, and Electro-Theremin solo, marking the first time the instrument was used in popular music and the first time theremin-like sounds were used on a rock record. One of the last tracks completed for ''Pet Sounds'', Wilson produced the recording with the aid of 14 studio musicians—including Electro-Theremin inventor Paul Tanner—who variously played percussion, basses, guitars, clarinets, piccolo, harpsichord, tack piano, and bass harmonica. All six Beach Boys sang on the track. In addition to multiple vocal counterpoints, the chorus features Spanish-sung backing vocals: "''Oh, ¿cuándo seré? Un día seré''" ("When will I be? One day I will be"). "I Just Wasn ...

Eric Clapton
Eric Patrick Clapton (born 1945) is an English rock and blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He is often regarded as one of the most successful and influential guitarists in rock music. Clapton ranked second in ''Rolling Stone''s list of the " 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" and fourth in Gibsons "Top 50 Guitarists of All Time". He was also named number five in ''Time'' magazine's list of "The 10 Best Electric Guitar Players" in 2009. After playing in a number of different local bands, Clapton joined the Yardbirds in 1963, replacing founding guitarist Top Topham. Dissatisfied with the change of the Yardbirds sound from blues rock to a more radio-friendly pop rock sound, Clapton left in 1965 to play with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers. On leaving Mayall in 1966, after one album, he formed the power trio Cream with drummer Ginger Baker and bassist Jack Bruce, in which Clapton played sustained blues improvisations and "arty, blues-based psychedelic pop". After Cream br ...

Last Time Around
''Last Time Around'' is the third and final studio album by the Canadian-American folk rock band Buffalo Springfield, released in July 1968. The line-up at the time officially consisted of Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Richie Furay, Dewey Martin, Bruce Palmer, and Jim Messina, though the band itself was essentially broken up and the album was put together from previous recordings, some made up to a year earlier. Jim Messina acted as the album producer and mixing engineer, with input from Furay, as the two compiled the record to fulfil the band's last contractual obligation to its label. A number of guest musicians (some uncredited) appeared on the album, notably pedal steel guitar player Rusty Young. By the time this album was released, the members were already involved in their next projects: Richie Furay, Jim Messina, and Rusty Young were busy forming the country-rock band Poco, Stephen Stills was forming Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Neil Young was performing with a group kn ...
