Eccleshill Adventure Playground
Eccleshill Adventure Playground (organisation renamed PlayBradford in 2020), locally known as The Big Swing, is an Adventure playground that has operated in Eccleshill Park, Bradford, West Yorkshire since 2006. It is located beside the Ravenscliffe estate and provides open access adventure play for children and young people from five to sixteen years old. Most sessions however are for ages five to thirteen years old. The playground is staffed by playworkers and runs a mobile play programme in deprived areas and a playworker apprentice programme. Much like a school would, the charity needs to know emergency contact details for children that attend, whether this is for a one-off or regular attendance so as to be able to contact a responsible adult who lives with the child after the child has attended (e.g. to follow up after an incident that took place, or for track and trace purposes). Eccleshill, West Yorkshire
Eccleshill is an area, former village, and ward within the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council in the county of West Yorkshire, England. The ward population of Eccleshill is 17,540, increasing at the 2011 Census to 17,945. Eccleshill is a more or less completely residential urban area with very little open space although there is substantial open land directly to the east. The origins of the name Eccleshill are uncertain. Ravenscliffe, West Yorkshire
Ravenscliffe is a housing estate in the Eccleshill, West Yorkshire, Eccleshill ward of the city of Bradford District, in the English county of West Yorkshire. Ravenscliffe is located to the west of Fagley Beck and to the east of the A658 road, A658 Harrogate Road. The buildings that were Ravenscliff farmhouse are situated off to the south in Eccleshill, West Yorkshire#Fagley, Fagley while Ravenscliffe Woods are in Pudsey to the south east. On 10th of July 2001, Ravenscliffe was subject to rioting on the estate, this was just after the Manningham riots. Now, Ravenscliffe has a large newly built housing development, two shops and an Indian takeaway. Playwork
Playwork is the work of creating and maintaining spaces for children to play. The theory and practice of playwork recognises that children's play should ideally be "freely chosen, personally directed and intrinsically motivated." It is the job of a playworker to ensure that the broadest possible range of play types can be engaged in or accessed by children, and to observe, reflect and analyze the play that is happening and select a mode of intervention or make a change to the play space if needed. Adventure Playgrounds
An adventure is an exciting experience or undertaking that is typically bold, sometimes risky. Adventures may be activities with danger such as traveling, exploring, skydiving, mountain climbing, scuba diving, river rafting, or other extreme sports. Bradford
Bradford is a city and the administrative centre of the City of Bradford district in West Yorkshire, England. The city is in the Pennines' eastern foothills on the banks of the Bradford Beck. Bradford had a population of 349,561 at the 2011 census; the second-largest population centre in the county after Leeds, which is to the east of the city.
