Ebrahim Ghasempour
Ebrahim Ghasempour ( fa, ابراهیم قاسمپور; born 11 September 1957) is an Iranian association football coach and retired player who in 2013 managed Sanat Naft in Azadegan League. Early life Ghasempour was born on 11 September 1957 in Abadan, Iran and began his career by playing in the youth team of Sanat Naft in 1972. He joined the senior team in 1974 after winning the 1974 AFC Youth Championship. Playing career After playing for Sanat Naft for three years, he left the club in 1976 and joined Shahbaz reaching the third place in the Iranian league in 1976–77 with that club as one of the key players. He signed a two-year contract with Pas in 1978. He played for different clubs in Iranian, Emirati, Qatari and Egyptian leagues for 16 years. He returned to Pas in 1994 and retired in 1996. Abadan
Abadan ( fa, آبادان ''Ābādān'', ) is a city and capital of Abadan County, Khuzestan Province, which is located in the southwest of Iran. It lies on Abadan Island ( long, 3–19 km or 2–12 miles wide). The island is bounded in the west by the Arvand waterway and to the east by the Bahmanshir outlet of the Karun River (the Arvand Rood), from the Persian Gulf, near the Iran–Iraq border. Abadan is 140 km from the provincial capital city of Ahvaz. Etymology The earliest mention of the island of Abadan, if not the port itself, is found in works of the geographer Marcian, who renders the name "Apphadana". Earlier, the classical geographer Ptolemy notes "Apphana" as an island off the mouth of the Tigris (which is where the modern Island of Abadan is located). 1976 AFC Asian Cup
The 1976 AFC Asian Cup was the 6th edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The finals were hosted by Iran between 3 and 13 June 1976. The field of six teams was split into two groups of three. Iran won their third title in a row, beating Kuwait in the final. 1978 FIFA World Cup
The 1978 FIFA World Cup was the 11th edition of the FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial international football world championship tournament among the men's senior national teams. It was held in Argentina between 1 and 25 June. The Cup was won by the host nation, Argentina, who defeated the Netherlands 3–1 in the final, after extra time. The final was held at River Plate's home stadium, Estadio Monumental, in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires. This win was the first World Cup title for Argentina, who became the fifth team (after Uruguay, Italy, England, and West Germany) to be both hosts and world champions and the third South American team to win a World Cup. The Takht Jamshid Cup ( fa, جام تخت جمشید, Jâm-e Taxt-e Jamšid) was a national football league based in Iran which lasted from 1973 to 1978.
