Ebrach Summer Music Festival
The Summer Music Festival at Ebrach in Franconia) was established in 1990 by Gerd Schaller, who conducts it and is its artistic director. The concerts take place in the Baroque Kaisersaal of the Cistercian Abbey of Ebrach and in the early Gothic abbey church. Performance venues outside of Ebrach include the Max Littmann Hall of the Regentenbau complex in Bad Kissingen and the Joseph Keilberth Hall of the Bamberg Konzerthalle. The Ebrach Summer Music Festival gained international repute above all through the performance and complete recording of all Anton Bruckner's Symphonies with the Philharmonie Festiva conducted by Gerd Schaller and the BRUCKNER2024 project. The International Brucknerfest Linz is an annual series of music events held in Linz. The music event series is named after Anton Bruckner and is organised by the Brucknerhaus. The Brucknerfest was introduced in 1974 on the initiative of the artistic director of the Brucknerhaus Horst Stadlmayr and started with an orchestral concert under Herbert von Karajan. Since 1977, the Bruckner Festival has been a fixed component of Austrian cultural events alongside the Vienna Festival and the Salzburg Festival. In 2005, the festival took place from 11 September to 2 October. The keynote speaker was Anton Zeilinger. Johann Ritter von Herbeck (25 December 1831 – 28 October 1877) was an Austrian musician, conductor and composer, born in Vienna, best known for leading the premiere of Franz Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony. He was practically a self-educated musician, but by hard work rose rapidly from the position of chorister to that of professor in the Vienna Conservatory. From 1859 to 1870 and again from 1873 to 1877 he conducted the concerts of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde, which under his energetic leadership became events of prime importance. Franz von Suppé (né Francesco Ezechiele Ermenegildo de Suppe) (18 April 181921 May 1895) was an Austrian composer of light operas and other theatre music. He came from the Kingdom of Dalmatia, Austro-Hungarian Empire (now part of Croatia). A composer and conductor of the Romantic period, he is notable for his four dozen operettas. Life and education Franz von Suppé's parents named him Francesco Ezechiele Ermenegildo when he was born on 18 April 1819 in Spalato, now Split, Dalmatia, Austrian Empire. Philharmonie Festiva
The Philharmonie Festiva is a festival orchestra founded by the conductor Gerd Schaller and became internationally recognized for its Bruckner recordings. Description The musicians of the Philharmonie Festiva, which was founded in 2008, come from renowned orchestras in Germany and neighboring countries. According to Gerd Schaller, "the orchestra is not a short-term, active project orchestra, but the intention was to build and develop a top-class orchestra, a festival orchestra, in the long term, to undertake his own ambitious projects at the Ebrach Summer Music Festival; certainly synonymous with something elitist claim."
