Ebony O'Dea
Ebony O'Dea (born 15 November 1998) is an Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She was drafted by Greater Western Sydney in the 2018 national draft. Delisted after one season, she was re-drafted by Collingwood in the 2019 national draft and made her professional debut in round 2 of the 2020 season. Personal life O'Dea grew up in Springton, South Australia. In Year 12 she studied chemistry the University of Adelaide, travelling in from her town, and started playing football there. She played a key role, helping the university reach the SAWFL Grand Final. As well as football, she is accomplished at unicycling, holding the World Record in Unicycling for "Platform Long Jump" and the Australian women's record for "Platform High Jump". Springton, South Australia
Springton is a List of cities and towns in South Australia, settlement in South Australia. At the , Springton had a population of 607. It draws its name from Springs Dairy which was on the site before the town subdivision was surveyed. There is a large hollow Eucalyptus camaldulensis, red gum tree on the outskirts of the town. This tree was used as the first home in South Australia of Friedrich Herbig when he migrated from Germany in 1855. He married three years later and his first two children were born in the tree before he built a hut nearby in 1860. The tree is known as the ''Herbig Family Tree''. Springton includes the former village of Friedensberg less than two kilometres south of the Springton township. The village had a Lutheran church (1861–1899), school (1861–1913) and cemetery. The 2022 AFL Women's season was the sixth season of the AFL Women's competition, the highest-level senior women's Australian rules football competition in Australia. The Carlton Football Club, nicknamed the Blues, is a professional Australian rules football club that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's top professional competition. In sport, a bye is the preferential status of a player or team that is automatically advanced to the next round of a tournament, without having to play an opponent in an early round. In knockout (elimination) tournaments they can be granted either to reward the highest ranked participant(s) or assigned randomly, to make a working bracket if the number of participants is not a power of two (e.g. 16 or 32). In round-robin tournaments, usually one competitor gets a bye in each round when there are an odd number of competitors, as it is impossible for all competitors to play in the same round. However, over the whole tournament, each plays the same number of games as well as sitting out for the same number of rounds. VFL Women's (VFLW) is the major state-level women's Australian rules football league in Victoria.
