Ebenezer Alden ( – ) was an American medical biographer, Army surgeon, and physician. Biography Ebenezer Alden was born on in Randolph, Massachusetts. He was descended through both father (Dr. Ebenezer Alden) and mother (Sarah Bass) directly from John Alden of the ''Mayflower.'' He graduated from Harvard College in 1808 and received his M. B. from Dartmouth Medical School in 1811 and M. D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1812, during his pupilage coming under the instruction of Nathan Smith, Benjamin Rush, Benjamin Smith Barton, and Casper Wistar. Following graduation, he was employed as a surgeon in the U.S. Army during the War of 1812, and was stationed in Boston. He returned to Randolph to practice medicine. Ebenezer Beesley (14 December 1840 – 21 March 1906) was a Latter-day Saint hymn writer and composer. Ebenezer Bailey
Ebenezer Bailey ( – ) was an American educator. Ebenezer Bailey was born on in West Newbury, Massachusetts. He graduated from Yale College in 1817, after which he taught school, and also entered his name as a law student. Afterward he became a tutor in Virginia, but in 1819 returned to Newburyport, and there opened a private school for young ladies. In 1823 he was appointed master of the Franklin Grammar School for Boys, and in 1825 teacher of the High School for Girls of Boston for girls. This school proved unsuccessful, and Josiah Quincy, then mayor, pronounced it an entire failure. Bailey at once replied with vigor in a ''Review of the Mayor's Report upon the High School for Girls'' (Boston, 1828). Subsequently he had charge of the Young Ladies High School in Boston, and in 1830 was active in the establishment of the American Institute of Instruction, afterward filling various offices in that body. Ebenezer Battle
Captain Ebenezer Battle, also known as Ebenezer Battelle, represented Dedham, Massachusetts in the Great and General Court. He was also a selectman in 1779. Battle fought the retreating British soldiers following the battles of Lexington and Concord. One of his men, Elias Haven, died at Menotomy. After the fighting ended, his men walked the entire length of the battlefield, collecting weapons and burying the dead. Ebenezer Battelle (1754–1815) was an American Revolutionary War veteran, a bookseller in Boston, Massachusetts, and a settler of Marietta, Ohio, in the late 18th century. Life in Dedham Battelle was born in 1754 in Dedham, Massachusetts, to Ebenezer Battle (d.1776) and Prudence Draper. He attended Harvard College (class of 1775); schoolmates included Fisher Ames and Benjamin Bourne. He was a member of the Sons of Liberty and the Free Brothers in Dedham. Chaplain Ebenezer Baldwin (July 3, 1745 – October 1, 1776) was a religious leader in Connecticut in the years before the American Revolution. He was the eldest son of Captain Ebenezer Baldwin of Norwich, Connecticut; and grandson of Thomas and Abigail (Lay) Baldwin, of that part of Norwich which is now Bozrah. Reverend Ebenezer Thompson Baird (1821–1887) was an influential Presbyterian minister, fundraiser, founder of schools, and missionary. He studied law, worked at various schools, and was an editor for a Presbyterian newspaper. Baird was the son of notable minister Thomas D. Baird. He had four brothers and one sister. Ebenezer Baird served as the Secretary of the Committees of Education and Publication in the Presbyterian church. Baird helped lay the cornerstone of the Broadway Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, Maryland on August 13, 1844. He was a teacher at a private school in Baltimore the early 1840s. Baird helped raise money to start a seminary in Terre Haute, Indiana. The building was used for a private school and Baird was the first principal of Vigo Collegiate Institute.
