Heinz Ebeling
Heinz Ebeling (2 January 1918 – 30 November 1987) was a German Luftwaffe military aviator and fighter ace during World War II. He is credited with 18 aerial victories achieved in 163 combat missions, all of which claimed over the Western Allies during the Battle of France and Battle of Britain. Born in Karlsruhe, Ebeling grew up in the Weimar Republic and Nazi Germany. He joined the military service of the Luftwaffe where he was trained as a fighter pilot. Following flight training, he was posted to ''Jagdgeschwader'' 26 "Schlageter" (JG 26—26th Fighter Wing) in December 1939. Flying with this wing, Ebeling claimed his first aerial victory on 17 May 1940 over a French Air Force fighter aircraft. In August 1940, he was appointed squadron leader of 9. __NOTOC__ Richard M. Ebeling (; born January 30, 1950) is an American libertarian author who was the president of the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) from 2003 to 2008. Ebeling is currently the BB&T Distinguished Professor of Ethics and Free Enterprise Leadership at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. Ebeling is a supporter of the Austrian School of Economics and written extensively on the subject, particularly as inspired by the works of Friedrich Hayek, Israel Kirzner, Ludwig Lachmann, and Ludwig von Mises. Much of his career has focused on Ludwig von Mises, for whom he posthumously published a trove of writings that had been looted by the Nazis from his Vienna apartment in 1938 and subsequently captured by the Soviet Army at the end of World War II. Hans Irvine Ebeling (1 January 1905 – 12 January 1980) was an Australian cricketer and cricket administrator. Family Ebeling's father, Arthur John Claus Frederick Ebeling (1863-1910), was of German descent. His mother was Mary Grace Ebeling (1869-1948), née Mochett, Hans Irvine Ebeling was born in Avoca, Victoria on 1 January 1905. He married Myra Aileen Conry on 5 October 1936. Education Ebeling was educated at Caulfield Grammar School from 1919 to 1922, where he played cricket in the school's First XI, football (in the ruck, and at centre half-forward) in its First XVIII, and as a miler in its athletic team. Carl Lodewijk Ebeling (8 February 1924 – 24 February 2017)Family notices in ''NRC Handelsblad'', 2 March 2017 was a Dutch linguist specializing in Slavic and Baltic languages. He was a professor at the University of Amsterdam from 1955 to 1985. Career Ebeling was born in Zaandam on 8 February 1924. He finished his in Slavic languages at the University of Amsterdam in 1947. He then moved to the United States and studied Slavic languages at Harvard University and obtained his PhD there under Roman Jakobson in 1950 with a thesis titled: ''The parts of the sentence in modern Russian: a structural analysis''. Jan Ebeling (born September 9, 1958) is a German-American equestrian. After Immigrating to the United States in 1984, Ebeling was a well known and prestigious rider in the states until his citizenship in 2002. The next year, Ebeling was named to the United States Pan American Team with mount Feleciano, with his direct reserve horse Liberté (owned by longtime sponsor Ann Romney). The team won Gold, and Ebeling finished 5th individually. He began riding his most famous horse, Rafalca, in 2007. With her, Ebeling competed in 3 World Cup Finals, in Las Vegas (2009), Leipzig (2011), and 'S-Hertogenbosch (2012). The highlight of his career thus far was his appearance on the United States Olympic Team in 2012, in London. In the twilight of her career, Rafalca and Ebeling won Bronze at the Aachen World Equestrian Festival. Christoph Daniel Ebeling (20 November 1741 – 30 June 1817) was a scholar of Germany who studied the geography and history of North America. Biography Ebeling was born near Hildesheim, Hanover. He studied theology at Göttingen, but devoted himself to geographical studies, and for 33 years taught history and Greek in the Hamburg gymnasium. He was also superintendent of the Hamburg library, and collected about 10,000 maps and nearly 4,000 books relating to America. Ebeling's magnum opus was a ''Geography and History of North America'' (5 vols., Hamburg, 1796–1816), forming a continuation of Büsching's ''General Geography''. He received a vote of thanks from the United States Congress for this work. Aurora Mathilda Ebeling (1826–1851) was a Swedish soprano opera singer. After first appearing as a concert pianist in 1842, she made her singing debut at Stockholm's Mindre Theatre in 1844. She performed at the Royal Swedish Opera from 1846 to 1848 before further study in Paris and an engagement with Berlin's Royal Opera in 1850. Carl Ebeling is a United States computer scientist and professor. His recent interests include coarse-grained reconfigurable architectures of integrated circuits. Education and career He earned MS from Southern Illinois University Carbondale (1976) and Ph.D. in computer science from Carnegie-Mellon University (1986). Since 1986 he was with the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, University of Washington, full professor since 1997. In late 2012, he left his academic position for a position at Altera. Work He was a member of the team which created the chess machine HiTech. HiTech was the highest ranked chess machine for some time in mid-1980s until it was surpassed by Deep Blue.
