Eastlake Football Club
The Canberra Demons (formerly known as the Eastlake Football Club) is a semi-professional Australian rules football club based in the inner-south of Canberra, in the Australian Capital Territory. The senior team competed in the North East Australian Football League (NEAFL) from the league's founding in 2011 until it was absorbed by the Victorian Football League (VFL) in 2021. Canberra declined to join the expanded VFL. In January 2016, the league announced that Eastlake would rebrand and now be known as Canberra, though the Eastlake name would live on in local competitions. Australian Rules Football
Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. Josh Bruce
Joshua Bruce (born 8 June 1992) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously played for the Greater Western Sydney Giants between 2012 and 2013 and the St Kilda Saints between 2014 and 2019. Bruce was St Kilda's leading goalkicker in 2015 and the Western Bulldogs' leading goalkicker in 2021. Manuka Football Club is a defunct Australian rules football club that played in the AFL Canberra from 1928–1991. The club played at Manuka Oval in the inner-south suburbs of Canberra. It merged with Eastlake Football Club in 1991. AFL Canberra is the name of the local governing body for and premier competition of Australian rules football in the Australian Capital Territory (and the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales). Aaron Rogers
Aaron Rogers (born 5 January 1984) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from New South Wales, Rogers was recruited to the Melbourne Football Club in the 2001 AFL Draft. However, it was not until he was traded to the Sydney Swans in 2004 that he made his debut. Alex Jesaulenko
Oleksandr "Alex" Jesaulenko ( ; uk, Олександр Васильович Єсауленко, Oleksandr Vasiliovych Yesaulenko, ; born 2 August 1945) is a former Australian rules footballer and who played for the Carlton Football Club and the St Kilda Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He also served as a coach at both clubs. Jesaulenko is a Legend of the Australian Football Hall of Fame, and as a player was known for his versatility, uncanny balance and spectacular marking. Brad Fuller (footballer)
Brad Fuller (born 8 August 1978) is a former Australian rules footballer, who played in the Australian Football League. Overview Fuller made his debut in 1997 for Collingwood after being picked up late in the 1996 AFL Draft, at number 87 overall. His debut in 1997 was his only appearance for the year, but showed promise in 1998, kicking 3 goals on ANZAC Day against Essendon, yet he never returned to that form, and when Collingwood allowed younger players more of an opportunity go late in the season, Fuller was not seen as often as he would have liked, despite given a go early on in the season. He kicked 10 goals in his 12 games for the season. In his last season at Collingwood, he only played 6 games off the bench, before being delisted as Mick Malthouse took over the side. Nathan Clarke (Australian Footballer)
Nathan Clarke (born 27 October 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). Clarke was recruited by Brisbane through the rookie draft, from Maroochydore in Queensland. His father, Barry, is a half forward flanker in the state's official Team of the Century. A utility, he played his first game late in the 2000 AFL season, against Hawthorn at the Gabba. In a memorable league debut, Clarke kicked two goals, took 10 marks and had 18 disposals. After appearing just twice in 2001, a Brisbane premiership year, he was delisted by the Lions. Tony Bourke
Tony Bourke (born 13 June 1976) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from East Ballarat Football Club in the Ballarat Football League (BFL), Bourke was drafted by Carlton at pick 67 at the 1994 AFL Draft but ongoing injury problems kept him out of the senior side until his debut in 1998. Bourke played four games for Carlton across two seasons and was delisted at the end of the 1999 AFL season. The North East Australian Football League (NEAFL) was an Australian rules football league in New South Wales, Queensland, the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory.
