Eastern Suburbs RUFC (Canberra)
The Eastern Suburbs Rugby Union Club Canberra, based out of Griffith, Australian Capital Territory, was founded in 1938. Easts compete in the first division of the ACTRU competition since 2020, having been unable to field teams in the John I Dent Cup, the highest level rugby competition in the region. History Easts are one of A.C.T rugby's foundation clubs. They were once affiliated with the RMC Duntroon Rugby Club. RMC provided Easts with a great deal of rugby talent, which dramatically increased the capacity of Easts to turn out competitive sides on a weekly basis. In the mid-1980s, the RMC rugby fraternity split from the Easts to establish itself as an independent entity. RMC now compete in the ACT Division 1 competition. The club survived tumultuous years in the early 2000s, which saw the clubhouse in Manuka sold. ACT And Southern NSW Rugby Union
The ACT and Southern NSW Rugby Union is the governing body for rugby union in the Australian Capital Territory and southern regions of New South Wales. The union is represented by one team in the Super Rugby competition, the Brumbies. The ACT is also home to the Canberra Vikings in the National Rugby Championship. Tokyo Sungoliath (formerly known as Suntory Sungoliath) is owned by the Suntory beverage company and is one of the Japanese rugby union teams in the Top League. The team is based in Fuchū, Tokyo, as is their local rival Toshiba Brave Lupus. The team rebranded as Tokyo Sungoliath ahead of the rebranding of the Top League to the Japan Rugby League One in 2022. Suntory coached by Katsuyuki Kiyomiya won the Microsoft Cup on February 24, 2008 by defeating Sanyo Wild Knights in a close and exciting game, 14-10. Western Force
The Western Force is an Australian professional rugby union team based in Perth, Western Australia, currently competing in Super Rugby Pacific. They previously played in Super Rugby from 2006 until they were axed from the competition in 2017. Following their axing they played in the National Rugby Championship in 2018 and 2019, replacing the Perth Spirit, and Global Rapid Rugby from 2018 to 2020, an Indo-Pacific competition organised by Andrew Forrest. Matthew James Giteau (born 29 September 1982) is an Australian rugby union professional player who is playing with the LA Giltinis of Major League Rugby (MLR). Giteau joined the Giltinis after a short playing stint with the Gungahlin Eagles in the ACTRU Premier Division in 2020. His regular playing positions are Inside centre, Halfback and Fly-half. Giteau played as a utility back. His usual positions were inside centre and fly-half, although he started his career as a scrum-half. The Ohio Aviators are an American rugby union team that played professionally in the short lived PRO Rugby competition. They are based in the Columbus, Ohio metropolitan area, and played their home games at Memorial Park in Obetz, Ohio. They are now playing in the newly formed World Tens Series. History PRO Rugby announced on February 9, 2016 the addition of Columbus, Ohio as the league's third team. The selection of Columbus came as somewhat of a surprise, because the original PRO Rugby announcement in November 2015 did not mention that the competition planned to place a team in the midwest in the inaugural season. Roland Suniula (born December 17, 1986) is an American international rugby union player who plays for the Austin Elite as a centre in Major League Rugby (MLR). He previously played for the Seattle Seawolves in the MLR and the Ohio Aviators as a centre in PRO Rugby. He is the brother of Andrew and Shalom Suniula, who have also represented the United States Eagles rugby union (both sevens and XV's). The Football Club de Grenoble Rugby (FCG) is a French rugby union club based in Grenoble and founded in 1892. FCG was champion of France in 1954 and runner-up in 1918 and in 1993 during a controversial final, being deprived of the title of champion of France following a refereeing error.
