Eastern Province Women's Cricket Team
The Eastern Province women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for parts of the South African region of Eastern Cape. They compete in the Women's Provincial Programme and the CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition. History Eastern Province Women first appeared in the Simon Trophy in the 1953–54 season, playing in the tournament until the 1963–64 season. They next appeared in the Women's Inter-Provincial Trophy in 1996–97, and have played in the tournament ever since. Their best finish came in the 2003–04 season, when they reached the final, but lost to Boland by 64 runs. They currently compete in the second tier of the competition. They have also competed in the CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition since its inception in 2012–13. They achieved their best finish in 2013–14, topping Group B to qualify for the knockout stages. St George's Park Cricket Ground
St George's Park Cricket Ground (also known as St George's Park, Crusaders Ground or simply Crusaders) is a cricket ground in St George's Park,South Africa. It is the home of the Port Elizabeth Cricket Club, one of the oldest cricket clubs in South Africa, and the Eastern Province Club. It is also one of the venues at which Test matches and One Day Internationals are played in South Africa. It is older than Kingswood College in Grahamstown. The ground is notable for its brass band that plays during major matches, adding a unique flavour to its atmosphere. The ground hosted its first Test match in March 1889 when England defeated South Africa by 8 wickets. Eastern Province (cricket Team)
Eastern Province cricket team was the former team that represented the Eastern Province in domestic first-class cricket in South Africa, alongside one-day matches. Eastern Province played first-class cricket from 1893–94 to 2004–05, when the team was merged with neighbouring team Border to form the entirely professional franchise the Warriors. From 2004–05 the former provincial teams, such as Eastern Province, were allocated two CSA Provincial Competitions that they could participate in: the CSA 3-Day Cup and the CSA One-Day Cup. Although given first-class status, these competitions were to be only semi-professional and no longer represented the top level of domestic cricket in South Africa. In 2020, domestic cricket in South Africa was restructured and the six former franchise teams were dropped.
