Eastern Pride
Falcons 2000 Soccer Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in the regional Victorian city of Morwell. Founded in 1961 by the local Italian community, the club has participated in the Victorian state league system at multiple levels, and in the defunct National Soccer League. After being re-established in 2000, the club currently participates in the Latrobe Valley Soccer League. The club is one of the most successful in the Gippsland region, being the only club to have been crowned Victorian state premiers, on two occasions, and to have been the only rural club in Victoria to have participated at a national level. Since its inception, the club has played under multiple names, consisting of ''Gippsland Falcons SC'', ''Eastern Pride'', and being latterly known as the ''Morwell Falcons''. Latrobe City Stadium
Latrobe City Stadium is a multi purpose sport stadium located in Morwell, Victoria, Australia. Opened in 1991, today it is the home ground of the Falcons 2000 SC in the Latrobe Valley Soccer League, and is used for association football, soccer, rugby league and rugby union. It was previously the home ground of the defunct Gippsland Falcons during their tenure in the National Soccer League, and briefly in the National Premier Leagues Victoria, Victoria Premier League. The Melbourne Rising rugby union club previously hosted a number of National Rugby Championship matches at the stadium. The stadium is also the headquarters of the Gippsland Cricket League and features Football Federation Victoria approved lights, a function room and bar and a soccer shop. Victorian State League Division 2
State League 2 is a semi-professional association football league in Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. Sitting at level 5 of the Victorian league system, below the three NPL Victoria divisions, it forms part of the fifth tier of the overall Australian soccer league system, Australian pyramid. It is the second-highest-ranked of the five State Leagues. The league consists of two geographic divisions, North-West and South-East, comprising 12 teams each. Mark Foy (footballer)
Mark Foy is a former footballer who represented New Zealand at international level and played for Gippsland Falcons and Adelaide City in the Australian National Soccer League. Playing career Club career Ahead of the 1996 National Summer Soccer League, Foy joined North Shore United. Playing with Mount Wellington, Foy was the best player in the final of the 1996 Chatham Cup in a 3–1 loss to Waitakere City FC. Soon after his final appearance, Foy joined Gippsland Falcons in the Australian National Soccer League (NSL), where he played 50 times between 1996 and 1998. At the end of the 1997–98 NSL season, Foy headed to Europe, where he spent time with Bohemians in Ireland and Mainz 05 in Germany. Aleksandar Đorđević (footballer, Born 1968)
Aleksandar Đorđević ( sr-Cyrl, Александар Ђорђевић, ; also transliterated Aleksandar Djordjević; born 14 July 1968) is a football coach and former player. He was part of the FK Partizan era that enjoyed great success in the Yugoslav First League in the late 1980s, finishing in the top three four times between 1986 and 1992 (including winning the 1986–87 Yugoslav First League). He was part of the squad that won the 1988–89 Yugoslav Cup. After a brief spell with FK Napredak Kruševac, He eventually moved to Australia and joined the Morwell Falcons in 1993 and formed part of their late-season run towards the 1993–94 National Soccer League finals, which they missed by a solitary point. Alun Evans
Alun William Evans (born 30 April 1949) is an English former footballer who made his name as a centre forward in the Liverpool side rebuilt by Bill Shankly at the start of the 1970s. He was born in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Career Evans began his professional career with Wolverhampton Wanderers, breaking into the first team in the 1967/68 season. He had already appeared for the club on their summer success in winning the United Soccer Association under the guise of the Los Angeles Wolves in Summer 1967. He only had one full season in Wolves' first team as he swiftly joined Liverpool in September 1968 for £100,000, making him Britain's most expensive teenager. Jeff Hopkins
Jeffrey Hopkins (born 14 April 1964) is a former Welsh international football defender and current Melbourne Victory Women head coach, who most notably played club football for Fulham and Reading in the Football League. Club career Hopkins started his career as a trainee with Fulham, going on to make over 200 first team appearances for the club. This was followed by a four-year spell at Crystal Palace, including a loan to Plymouth Argyle in 1991–92. He spent a few months at Bristol Rovers in 1992, before spending the remaining five years of his Football League career with Reading. Levent Osman (born 8 March 1977, in Melbourne) is an Australian former association football player of Turkish Cypriot descent. He played as a defender. Eugen Josip Galekovic ( ; hr, Eugen Josip Galeković, ; born 12 June 1981) is an Australian former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Ernie Tapai
Ernie Tapai (born 14 February 1967) is an Australian former professional soccer player who spent the majority of his career in the Australian National Soccer League (NSL). He also had stints in England, Portugal and Singapore. Tapai played 52 times for Australia, including 37 times in full international matches. Brian Bothwell
Mohammed Brian Iman Abdullah Bothwell is a former professional footballer most known for leading Brunei FA to their first Malaysian Cup title in 1999. He won the Penang Sports Club International Soccer Sevens tournament in 2007 with the Brunei Dragons. Career Brunei Spending several seasons in Australia, Bothwell returned to his native Scotland after being invited to train with Celtic. Instead, however, he passed on the opportunity to become an apprentice at Sheffield United. Billy Wright (footballer, Born 1962)
Billy Wright (born 4 November 1962) is a former association football, footballer who played as a striker (association football), striker. His senior career included stints with Burnley F.C. (England), Dundalk (Ireland) as well as National Soccer League clubs Blacktown City Demons, West Adelaide SC, West Adelaide and Gippsland Falcons. Born in England, he represented the New Zealand national football team, New Zealand national team at international level. Archie Thompson
Archie Gerald Thompson (born 23 October 1978) is an Australian former professional association football, footballer. He also is serving as a club ambassador for Melbourne Victory FC. Born in New Zealand, Thompson played youth football at the New South Wales Institute of Sport before going on to play numerous seasons in the National Soccer League and A-League. After eleven seasons with Melbourne Victory, he moved on to play for Heidelberg United in 2016.
