Eastern Cape (National Assembly Of South Africa Constituency)
Eastern Cape ( xh, iMpuma-Kapa) is one of the nine multi-member constituencies of the National Assembly of South Africa, the lower house of the Parliament of South Africa, the national legislature of South Africa. The constituency was established in 1994 when the National Assembly was established by the Interim Constitution following the end of Apartheid. It is conterminous with the province of Eastern Cape. The constituency currently elects 25 of the 400 members of the National Assembly using the closed party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2019 general election it had 3,363,161 registered electors. National Assembly Of South Africa
The National Assembly is the directly elected house of the Parliament of South Africa, located in Cape Town, Western Cape. It consists of four hundred members who are elected every five years using a party-list proportional representation system where half of the members are elected proportionally from nine provincial lists and the remaining half from national lists so as to restore proportionality. The National Assembly is presided over by a Speaker, assisted by a Deputy Speaker. The current Speaker is Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula who previously served as the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans. She was elected on 19 August 2021. Noxolo Kiviet
Noxolo Kiviet is a South African politician, the former Premier of the Eastern Cape from 2009 to 2014 and former speaker of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature (2004–2009; 2014–2019). She is a member of the African National Congress. In June 2012 Kiviet was rated as the worst performing provincial premier by the South African Public Service Commission. Dingaan Jacob Myolwa is a South African politician from the Eastern Cape who is a Member of the National Assembly for the African National Congress (ANC). He was appointed to parliament in 2021. Myolwa had previously served as a member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2013 to 2014 and before that, as mayor of the OR Tambo District Municipality. Phumeza Mpushe
Phumeza Theodora Mpushe is a South African politician who has been an African National Congress Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since August 2020. She had previously been a member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature. Political career Mpushe was elected to the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature in the 2014 provincial election as a member of the African National Congress. On 27 February 2018, she was appointed as acting chairperson of the public works committee. Mpushe was twentieth on the ANC's list of parliamentary candidates from the Eastern Cape for the 2019 general election. Gordon Gcinikhaya Mpumza is a South African politician for the African National Congress. He has been a member of the National Assembly since 2019. Mpumza had previously served as the Executive Mayor and as the Municipal Manager of the Alfred Nzo District Municipality in the Eastern Cape. Ntombovuyo Veronica Mente is a South African politician serving as the Chairperson of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) since her election in December 2019. She is also a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa, having taken office in May 2014. Biography Mente is from the Khayelitsha township in Cape Town. Thandeka Moloko Mbabama (born 12 September 1956) is a South African politician of the Democratic Alliance who has been serving as the Shadow Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development since June 2019.
