Eastatoe Falls
Eastatoe Falls is a waterfall in Western North Carolina, United States, located on private property near the town of Rosman. The public was once allowed access, but as of 2019, the property has been sold, and it has been closed to the public. Shoal Creek Shoal Creek rises in the Pisgah National Forest between Nancy Mountain and Burnt Mountain near the Eastatoe Gap. The creek descends over 200 feet over a quarter mile, culminating in the 60 foot series of drops over granite bedrock at Eastatoe Falls. The creek continues on past the falls to join with other tributaries to form the Middle Fork French Broad River. Natural history ''Eastatoe'' was the name of a local, historic Cherokee town. It was also their term in Cherokee for the Carolina parakeet. Ownership of the falls has changed throughout the years, as has the name. Pisgah National Forest
Pisgah National Forest is a National Forest in the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina. It is administered by the United States Forest Service, part of the United States Department of Agriculture. The Pisgah National Forest is completely contained within the state of North Carolina. The forest is managed together with the other three North Carolina National Forests (Croatan, Nantahala, and Uwharrie) from common headquarters in Asheville, North Carolina. Courthouse Falls is a waterfall in Western North Carolina, located near Balsam Grove. Geology Courthouse Creek flows through the Pisgah National Forest near a mountain called the Devil's Courthouse then through a narrow chute into a natural amphitheater of bedrock. Visiting The falls are accessible to the general public on a trail of moderate difficulty. To reach the falls, either go down NC Highway 215 for 6.5 miles south from the Blue Ridge Parkway and turn left onto Forest Road 140 (Courthouse Creek Road). Go 3 miles down the road and park on the right just after crossing the bridge over Courthouse Creek. Dill (''Anethum graveolens'') is an annual herb in the celery family Apiaceae. It is the only species in the genus ''Anethum''. Dill is grown widely in Eurasia, where its leaves and seeds are used as a herb or spice for flavouring food. Growth Dill grows up to , with slender hollow stems and alternate, finely divided, softly delicate leaves long. The ultimate leaf divisions are broad, slightly broader than the similar leaves of fennel, which are threadlike, less than broad, but harder in texture. The flowers are white to yellow, in small umbels diameter. The seeds are long and thick, and straight to slightly curved with a longitudinally ridged surface. Chestnut Falls
The chestnuts are the deciduous trees and shrubs in the genus ''Castanea'', in the beech family Fagaceae. They are native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. The name also refers to the edible nuts they produce. The unrelated horse chestnuts (genus ''Aesculus'') are not true chestnuts, but are named for producing nuts of similar appearance that are mildly poisonous to humans. True chestnuts should also not be confused with water chestnuts, which are tubers of an aquatic herbaceous plant in the sedge family Cyperaceae. Carolina Parakeet
The Carolina parakeet (''Conuropsis carolinensis''), or Carolina conure, is an extinct species of small green neotropical parrot with a bright yellow head, reddish orange face and pale beak that was native to the eastern, Midwest and plains states of the United States. It was the only indigenous parrot within its range, as well as one of only three parrot species native to the United States (the others being the thick-billed parrot, now extirpated, and the green parakeet, still present in Texas; a fourth parrot species, the red-crowned amazon, is debated). The Carolina parakeet was found from southern New York and Wisconsin to Kentucky, Tennessee and the Gulf of Mexico, from the Atlantic seaboard to as far west as eastern Colorado.
