East Williston, New York
East Williston is an incorporated village in the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 2,556 at the 2010 census. History Most of the farmland was owned by the Willis family in the 1800s. So as not to be confused with the Willis areas of upstate New York, this area was known as East Williston. The original borders of the area known as East Williston, stretched west towards Queens to Herricks Road; north to I.U. Willets Road; south to the Village of Mineola; and east to Bacon Road in Old Westbury. The coming of the railroad in 1865 stimulated manufacturing in East Williston. The industries that grew as a result of the new train station included brick making, windmill making and carriage making. Henry M. Willis designed and built the popular East Williston Runabout Roadcart. This carriage had two wheels and two seats. Williston Park, New York
Williston Park is an incorporated village in the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 7,287 at the 2010 census. History Williston Park was founded in 1926 when of land were purchased by New York City developer William Chatlos. Chatlos was seeking to create an affordable, planned community for New York City residents wishing to move to the suburbs. Later that year, residents of the village voted to break with the residents of East Williston and formally incorporate the village. Williston Park is named for Samuel Willis, a settler who came to the area in the late 17th century. The home of one of Willis's family members stood in the village until the 1950s. Interlaken is a village in Seneca County, New York, United States. The population was 602 at the 2010 census. The name is related to the village's position between two lakes. The Village of Interlaken is in the northern part of the Town of Covert and is northwest of Ithaca, New York. History First settled in the late 1790s and early 1800s, the Village of Interlaken was home to many families from the New England and New Jersey areas. Early businesses included hotels, blacksmiths, post office, bank, and in time the railroad station. All designed to support the local families and the farmers from the surrounding area. New York State Route 25B
New York State Route 25B (NY 25B) is a east–west state highway located on Long Island in New York, United States. The western terminus of the route is at an intersection with NY 25 in Queens. The eastern terminus is at an interchange with NY 25 in Westbury, Nassau County. NY 25B is named Hillside Avenue for its entire length, except for a brief portion in the village of East Williston, where it is called East Williston Avenue. The route, assigned in the mid-1930s, acts as a northern alternate to NY 25, running parallel to its parent for its entire length.
