East Turkistan Islamic Movement
The Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) or the Turkistan Islamic Movement (TIM), formerly known as the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) and other names, is a Uyghur Islamic extremist organization founded in Western China. Its stated goals are to establish an independent state called East Turkestan replacing Xinjiang. The UN Security Council Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee has listed ETIM as a terrorist organization since 2002. The United States removed it from its list of Terrorist Organizations in 2020, claiming it ceased to exist. Influenced by the success of the Afghan mujahideen against the Soviets in the Soviet–Afghan War, the TIP became prominent in 1990 during the Baren Township riot. The conflict took the form of a '' jihad'' which envisioned a similar result to the earlier creation of the First East Turkestan Republic (1933–1934). Zeydin Yusup
Zeydin Yusup, also known as Zeydin Kari or Ziauddin Yusuf, was one of main leaders of the Free Turkistan Movement. History In 1988 Abdul Kasim and Zeydin Yusup started the group which was originally called Free Turkistan Movement. The movement was disbanded after the Baren uprising was crushed by Chinese security forces on April 10, 1990. The Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU; uz, Ўзбекистон исломий ҳаракати/Oʻzbekiston islomiy harakati; russian: Исламское движение Узбекистана ) was a militant Islamist group formed in 1998 by Islamic ideologue Tahir Yuldashev and former Soviet paratrooper Juma Namangani; both ethnic Uzbeks from the Fergana Valley. Its original objective was to overthrow President Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan and create an Islamic state under Sharia; however, in subsequent years, it reinvented itself as an ally of Al-Qaeda. Separatism is the advocacy of cultural, ethnic, tribal, religious, racial, governmental or gender separation from the larger group.
