Hydrographic Survey Bench Mark, East Trinity
Hydrographic Survey Bench Mark is a heritage-listed survey marker at Bessie Point, off Pine Creek-Yarrabah Road, East Trinity, Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Royal Navy and built in 1878 by Royal Navy. It is also known as Bessie Point. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 9 May 2014. History A broad arrow bench mark, or datum mark, is chiselled into a large granite boulder on the Rolling Bay (west) side of Bessie Point, located on the east side of Trinity Bay. The arrow was cut in early February 1878 during a hydrographic survey of Cairns Harbour by Navigating Lieutenant Edward Richard Connor, Royal Navy (RN). Yidiny People
The Yidiny (also spelt Yidindj, Yidinji or Yidiñ), are an Aboriginal Australian people in Far North Queensland. Their language is the Yidiny language. Language The last fluent speakers of Yidiny were Tilly Fuller (d. October 1974), George Davis (b.1919), Dick Moses (b.1898) and his sister Ida Burnett of White Rock. A substantial part of the language has been analysed and recorded by Robert M. W. Dixon. Trinity Inlet
The Trinity Inlet is an oceanic inlet which serves as the port for the city of Cairns, Queensland, Australia. The city centre is on the western bank where the inlet meets the Coral Sea. Location and features The Trinity Inlet is located in the original delta of the Mulgrave River, which since the Pleistocene flows to a mouth further south. This is because Volcanic activity which resulted in the rise of Green Hill near the Mulgrave Valley, did not block the river, as sediments from more local streams continued to build up over the volcanic rocks. The Mulgrave River enters the sea at Russell Heads, approximately 30 km south of Trinity Inlet. It is unlikely that a river would shift its course and add a further 30km to its length before entering the sea. Glen Boughton, Queensland
Glen Boughton is a locality in the Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. In , Glen Boughton had a population of 28. Geography Contrary to the Queensland Government's usual guidelines on locality boundaries, Glen Boughton is a locality entirely within another locality ( East Trinity). The locality is entirely freehold land with approximately half of it developed. The western part of the locality the land is flat (almost at sea level) and is used for farming, predominantly sugarcane. The eastern part of the locality is mountainous rising to approximately 400 metres at the eastern boundary (the Murray Prior Range); it is undeveloped land. Hills Creek flows from east to west through the locality and after passing through East Trinity has its mouth at the Trinity Inlet.
