East Mount Carmel, Indiana
East Mount Carmel is a small unincorporated community near the southwestern corner of White River Township in Gibson County, Indiana. The community is home to around 50 people. History East Mount Carmel was founded in ca. 1885. It lies east of Mount Carmel, Illinois, hence the name. The post office which East Mount Carmel once contained was called Fetters due to the similarity of the village's name to Carmel, Indiana. The Fetters post office operated from 1897 until 1907. Gibson Generating Station
The Gibson Generating Station is a coal-burning power plant located at the northernmost end of Montgomery Township, Gibson County, Indiana, United States. It is close to the Wabash River, southeast of Mount Carmel, Illinois, south of the mouth of the Patoka River, and south of the mouth of the White River. The closest Indiana communities are Owensville to the southeast of the plant, and Princeton, to the east. With a 2013 aggregate output capacity among its five units of 3,345 megawatts, it is the largest power plant run by Duke Energy, and the tenth-largest electrical plant in the United States. Carmel is a suburban city in Indiana immediately north of Indianapolis. With a population of 100,777, the city spans across Clay Township in Hamilton County, Indiana, and is bordered by the White River to the east; the Hamilton-Boone county line to the west; 96th Street to the south and 146th Street to the north. Mount Carmel is a city in and the county seat of Wabash County, Illinois, United States. At the time of the 2010 census, the population was 7,284, and it is the largest city in the county.
