East Lancs European
The East Lancs European was a step entrance single-decker bus body that was built on the Scania L113CRL chassis by East Lancashire Coachbuilders during 1995 and 1996. A step-entrance design, it was similar in appearance to the low-floor MaxCi on the N113CRL, but had a straight window line as opposed to a stepped/sloped one. History A total of 79 Europeans were built, of which besides five that were purchased by Yorkshire Traction, 59 were purchased by companies owned by the British Bus group. These companies were Luton & District (taking 27), Northumbria Motor Services (20), Midland Fox (14), Clydeside 2000 (eight) and Derby City Transport (five). The European was superseded in late 1996 by the Flyte. Arriva Northumbria operates in Northumberland, using the "Arriva serving Northumbria" name. They are considered now to have merged with Arriva North East. Brief history United Automobile Services split into two parts in 1986, making it ready for privatisation. In October 1987 Northumbria was bought from National Bus Company by its management, using Proudmutual Group as a holding name. In March 1988 Proudmutual Group bought Kentish Bus. Clydeside Scottish Omnibuses Ltd was a bus operating subsidiary of the Scottish Transport Group formed in June 1985 from Western SMT Company Ltd. The company operated until May 1989, when it was remerged with Western Scottish, the successor company to Western SMT. Operation From its head office in Paisley, Clydeside Scottish covered an operating area bounded by Largs in the south, the River Clyde to the north and the south side of Glasgow to the east. Yorkshire Traction was a bus operator in Yorkshire that operated from 1902 until 2005. History In March 1902 the Barnsley & District Electric Traction Company Limited was formed. It operated trams around the Barnsley area until around 1930.
