East Keilor Football Club
East Keilor Football Club is an Australian rules football club located 16 km northwest of Melbourne in the suburb of East Keilor. The club was founded in 1967 as a junior club. The Senior club was established in 1971 in B Grade and the club's first premiership was in 1978. The club's second B Grade premiership was in 1992. The club won Senior Division 2 premierships in 2012, 2014 and 2016. After losing the A Grade grand final in 1993 the club's won its only A Grade premiership in 1994. Essendon District Football League
The Essendon District Football League (EDFL) is a professional Australian rules football league competition based in Essendon, Victoria, consisting of teams based in the north-west suburbs of Melbourne. Founded in 1930, the men's competition consists of three leagues: Premier Division, Division 1 and Division 2, with 10 clubs in the Premier Division and Division 1 nine in Division 2. Promotion and relegation between these divisions occurs, with the lowest-placed clubs in the Premier Division and Division 1 being relegated at the end of each season. Clubs which win the Division 1 and Division 2 premierships are automatically promoted. Each men's team also fields a reserves side and an under-19 side that play a fixture mirroring that of the senior side. Since 2017, the League has also run a competition for women's Australian rules football. Brisbane Lions
The Brisbane Lions is a professional Australian rules football club based in Brisbane, Queensland, that plays in the Australian Football League (AFL). The club was formed in late 1996 via a merger of the Melbourne-based 1883 foundation VFL club the Fitzroy Lions, and the 1987 Queensland based expansion club the Brisbane Bears, with the colours of maroon, blue, and gold being drawn from both parent clubs. The Lions are one of the most successful AFL club of the 2000s, appearing in four consecutive Grand Finals from 2001 to 2004 and winning three premierships ( 2001, 2002, 2003). Glenn Manton
Glenn Manton (born 1 June 1973) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton and Essendon. Since leaving the AFL, he has been an author, media personality, youth advocate and professional speaker. AFL career Manton played for both Strathmore and East Keilor before joining the Essendon Under-19s as a 16-year-old. He made his AFL debut in 1992 at age 18 for the Bombers and played 21 games over three seasons for them. He was delisted by Essendon after the 1994 season, then recruited by Carlton in the 1995 Pre-season draft. He played 12 games for the club during the 1995 season, mostly off the interchange bench, and was part of the club's 1995 Premiership Team, the only AFL premiership of his career. Matthew Hogg (born 21 December 1968) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Footscray Bulldogs, Footscray and Carlton Blues, Carlton. Hogg started his career at Footscray after being recruited from East Keilor Football Club, East Keilor. Carlton then picked up Hogg at pick 18 in the 1991 National Draft. He usually played as a tagger for the Blues, and at the peak of his abilities in the mid-1990s he was considered one of the best attacking taggers in the league; but was also known to spend time in the back pocket. He was a member of Carlton's 1995 premiership team; although he had been injured throughout most of Carlton's record-breaking 1995 season, missing the first 21 games after having foot surgery, he returned in the final round and played all three finals to earn the premiership medallion. David Calthorpe
David Calthorpe (born 17 August 1973) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Essendon, the Brisbane Lions and the Kangaroos in the Australian Football League (AFL). Calthorpe was an on-baller and in his first ever State of Origin game for Victoria won the E. J. Whitten Medal. For the Bombers he played 92 games from his debut in 1992, winning a premiership medal in his second season. He was picked up by Brisbane at pick one in the 1999 Pre-Season Draft but only played 9 games for the club before moving to the Kangaroos in 2000 for what turned out to be his final season of football. He is best remembered for a solo play late in the third quarter of the 1993 AFL Grand Final where he collected the ball from the centre bounce and within 10 seconds had goaled from 55 metres out, effectively killing the game as a contest.
