East Fremantle Sharks
The East Fremantle Football Club, nicknamed the Sharks, is an Australian rules football club playing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and WAFL Women's (WAFLW). The team's home ground is East Fremantle Oval. East Fremantle are the most successful club in WAFL history, winning 29 premierships since their entry into the competition in 1898. History The East Fremantle Football Club was formed in 1898 and up to the end of the 2022 season the club has won 29 league premierships in the West Australian Football League. Making the club one of the most successful AFL football clubs in Australia. East Fremantle's last Premiership was in 1998 where they defeated West Perth, 2012 was their last appearance in a Grand Final was against Claremont. Ron Alexander
Ronald James Alexander (born 10 December 1950) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Fitzroy Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and for the East Perth Football Club and East Fremantle Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). He served as captain-coach of East Fremantle and was also the inaugural senior coach of the West Coast Eagles. Playing career During his career he represented Western Australia 13 times, Victoria twice, and was awarded a Simpson Medal for a match against Victoria in 1974. George Prince (footballer)
George James Prince (21 May 1918 – 3 September 2002) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the East Fremantle Football Club in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL) between 1939 and 1952. He was the leading goalkicker in the league for the 1949 season, and won premierships in 1945 and 1946. Biography Prince was born in East Fremantle and began his career with the nearby Palmyra Juniors. He made his senior debut for Old Easts in round three of the 1939 season, starting out as a back pocket. He was switched to a forward pocket the following week and kicked six goals. Prince stood 178 cm (5 foot 10), a little taller than the average footballer of his age, and was versatile enough to play in virtually every position on the ground, which he did at some point in his career. Jack Sheedy (Australian Rules Footballer)
John Cameron Sheedy (born 28 September 1926) is a former Australian rules footballer and coach. He played for and in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL) and in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Sheedy is considered one of the greatest ever footballers from Western Australia, being the first player from that state to play 300 games in elite Australian rules football, and is a member of both the Australian and West Australian Football Halls of Fame. Chris Mainwaring
Christopher Douglas Mainwaring (27 December 1965 – 1 October 2007) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL) and for the East Fremantle Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Adored by young fans for his handsome appearance, Mainwaring was one of the most popular footballers of his era. At his peak, he was one of the finest wingmen in the AFL, forming a devastating midfield combination with Peter Matera in the early 1990s, but after a serious knee injury in 1997 he was never able to recapture his best form. Ray Sorrell
Ray George Sorrell (born 1 January 1938) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with East Fremantle and South Fremantle in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL). A centreman, Sorrell achieved many accolades during his time at East Fremantle. He was a dual Sandover Medal winner, finishing equal first with Neville Beard in 1961 and then winning the award outright in 1963. The 1961 medal was given to Beard on countback but Sorrell was awarded it retrospectively in the 1990s when the league decided to reward those who had lost in a similar fashion. Norman Angus "Norm" Rogers (born 7 May 1937) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for East Fremantle in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL) during the 1950s and 1960s. Rogers was predominantly a defender and spent most of his time across half back. In 1959 he won East Fremantle's 'Best and Fairest' award and was a member of their premiership teams of 1957 and 1965. Carlisle Melrose Byron Jarvis (10 December 1906 – 6 November 1979) was an Australian rules footballer at East Fremantle in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL). Jarvis spent twelve seasons with East Fremantle where he was a specialist defender. "Bub" Jarvis had his best year in 1934 where he was runner up in the Sandover Medal count and won a Lynn Medal. Doug Green (footballer)
Doug Green (born 28 October 1951) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for East Fremantle in the WANFL during the 1970s. He also spent a season with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League. Green, a defender, was used mostly across half back from his East Fremantle debut in 1970. He won a Lynn Medal in 1973 as East Fremantle's 'Best and fairest' player and finished runner-up in the award on six occasions over the course of his career. Green was at centre half back in their 1974 premiership side and became club captain in 1975, replacing Graham Melrose. He played in his second premiership in 1979, with the Grand Final being his last game for East Fremantle. Michael Brennan (footballer)
Michael Brennan (born 29 June 1965) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the East Fremantle Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). An inaugural West Coast squad member, Brennan played mainly at full-back. He played in West Coast's 1992 and 1994 premiership sides, and won the Best Clubman award in 1995, his final season. Brennan was named in both West Coast's Team of the Decade (named in 1996) and Team 20 (named in 2006), as well as East Fremantle's Team of the Century, named in 1997. Con Regan
Cornelius John "Con" Regan (30 September 1934 – 11 May 2007) was an Australian rules footballer for the East Fremantle Football Club in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL) from 1953 until 1965. He was the first East Fremantle player to play 250 games and represented Western Australia on 7 occasions, including the state's second ever National Carnival winning team in 1961. He played in the finals in every season that he played, including eight grand finals, but was only part of a successful premiership in 1957. Known primarily as a tough defender, he could also play forward, leading the East Fremantle goalkicking in 1955 with 65 goals.
