East District, Hsinchu
East District () is a district in east Hsinchu City, Taiwan. It is the second largest of the three districts in Hsinchu City. The East District is home to the Hsinchu Science and Industrial Park. District (Taiwan)
Districts are administrative subdivisions of the Taiwan, Republic of China (Taiwan)'s special municipality (Taiwan), special municipalities of the second level and provincial city (Taiwan), provincial cities of the third level formerly under its Provinces of China, provinces. There are two types of district in the administrative scheme. Ordinary districts are governed directly by the municipality/city government with district administrators appointed by the mayors to four-year terms. The Chenghuangshen (), is a tutelary deity or deities in Chinese folk religion who is believed to protect the people and the affairs of the particular village, town or city of great dimension, and the corresponding afterlife location. The National Hsinchu Living Arts Center (NHLAC; ) is an arts center in East District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan. History The center building was originally constructed in 1921 during the Japanese rule. The center was officially opened on 6 March 2008 to promote living arts, cultural and creative industries and community development. Lee Tze-fan Memorial Art Gallery () is a gallery located in East District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan and dedicated to the Taiwanese painter Lee Tze-fan Lee Tze-fan (; 5 June 1907 Shinchiku-cho (modern-day Hsinchu), Japanese Taiwan - 10 July 1989) was a Taiwanese painter and art teacher. ''Jinshi'' () was the highest and final degree in the imperial examination in Imperial China. The examination was usually taken in the imperial capital in the palace, and was also called the Metropolitan Exam. Recipients are sometimes referred to in English-language sources as Imperial Scholars. The ''jinshi'' degree was first created after the institutionalization of the civil service exam. Initially it had been "for six categories" but was later consolidated into a single degree. This system first appeared during the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD). Image Museum Of Hsinchu City
The Image Museum of Hsinchu City () is a museum about cinema in East District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan. History The museum building was initially built in 1933 as the Hsinchu Municipal Theater or Yule Theater. It was the first luxury theater at that time with air conditioner in Taiwan with a capacity of 500 audiences. In 1944, the second floor of the building was heavily damaged by aerial bombing during the Second Sino-Japanese War by the Allied Forces. In 1945 after the handover of Taiwan to China, the theater was rebuilt and opened as the Kuomin Theater in 1946. It subsequently attracted huge crowds as a movie house. It was used as a venue for concert halls and even army recruitment drive. Due to its declining profits contributed from the increasing usage of rental videos, the theater had remained idle for several years since 1991.
