The East Coast Music Association is a non-profit association that hosts an annual awards ceremony based in Atlantic Canada for music appreciation on the East Coast of Canada. Its mission is to develop, advance and celebrate East Coast Canadian music, its artists and its industry professionals throughout the region and around the world, and advocate for members to ensure they can sustain music careers while based in Canada’s Atlantic region." Stompin' Tom Connors
Charles Thomas "Stompin' Tom" Connors, OC (February 9, 1936 – March 6, 2013) was a Canadian country and folk singer-songwriter. Focusing his career exclusively on his native Canada, he is credited with writing more than 300 songs and has released four dozen albums, with total sales of nearly four million copies. Connors' songs have become part of the Canadian cultural landscape. Among his best-known songs are " Sudbury Saturday Night", " Bud the Spud" and "The Hockey Song"; the last is played at various games throughout the National Hockey League, including at every Toronto Maple Leafs home game. In 2018, the song was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in a ceremony at a Leafs game. Anita Best
Anita Best C.M. is a teacher, broadcaster, and well-known singer from the Atlantic province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. With Genevieve Lehr, Best collected the songs for ''Come and I Will Sing You: A Newfoundland Songbook'', spending years travelling around the province collecting songs from anyone who cared to sing. In 2015 the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society awarded her their Lifetime Achievement Award. Best was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 2011. Joan Kennedy (born in Douglas Harbour, New Brunswick, Canada) is a country music singer. She came to fame after winning the Canadian National Talent Contest in 1983 and issued her first album, ''I'm a Big Girl Now'', the following year in 1984. After two more albums in 1985 and 1987, she signed with MCA Records and issued two albums, 1990's ''Candle in the Window'' and 1992's '' Higher Ground''. The Barra MacNeils are a Canadian musical group from Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. Figgy Duff was a Canadian folk-rock band from Newfoundland, Canada. They played a major role in the Newfoundland cultural renaissance of the 1970s and 1980s. Matt Minglewood (born Roy Alexander Batherson, January 31, 1947) is a Canadian musician whose style can be described as a blend of country, blues, folk, roots and rock. The name "Matt" was borrowed from his brother, Matt Batherson. Career Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Minglewood later relocated to North Sydney, Nova Scotia with his family. He later moved to nearby Glace Bay, Nova Scotia where he resides to the present day. Dalhousie Arts Centre
The Dalhousie Arts Centre, at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, contains a number of theatres (including an outdoor rooftop theatre), Dalhousie Art Gallery, classrooms, and a sculpture garden.
