East Branch Pemigewasset River
The East Branch of the Pemigewasset River is a river located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the Pemigewasset River, part of the Merrimack River watershed. The East Branch is a longer and larger river than the river that it flows into, but it is named a branch of the main stem because its source lies deep in the Pemigewasset Wilderness of the White Mountains, while the main Pemigewasset River flows directly from Franconia Notch, a major pass through the mountains. The East Branch begins in the locality known as Stillwater, in a wide valley north of Mount Carrigain and Mount Hancock, where several large brooks converge. Loon Mountain
Loon Mountain is a mountain in Lincoln and Livermore, New Hampshire, in Grafton County. It is in the White Mountain National Forest. The mountain is known for Loon Mountain Ski Resort, which, like most New England mountain resorts, has expanded into an all-season recreation area. Geography There are two summits to Loon Mountain: the North Peak at , and the South Peak at above sea level. Between the two peaks and slightly to the north, at an elevation of , is Loon Pond. "Loon Peak", with an elevation of , is a northwest spur of North Peak. Each of the three peaks is the summit of one or more chairlifts belonging to the ski resort. New Hampshire Route 112 (abbreviated NH 112) is a east–west state highway in northern New Hampshire. The highway winds across the state, connecting Bath to Conway through the heart of the scenic and mountainous White Mountain National Forest. North Fork Pemigewasset River
The North Fork of the East Branch of the Pemigewasset River is a river located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the East Branch of the Pemigewasset River, part of the Merrimack River watershed. The North Fork begins on the south slopes of Mount Field in the southeast corner of the town of Bethlehem, within the White Mountain National Forest. The small stream flows south and picks up the outlet of Ethan Pond from the east, just north of the northeastern corner of the Pemigewasset Wilderness in the heart of the White Mountains. Now a river, the North Fork flows west and enters the town limits of Lincoln, the second-largest town by area in New Hampshire. Mount Hancock (New Hampshire)
Mount Hancock is a mountain in Grafton County, New Hampshire, named after John Hancock (1737–1793), one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. The mountain is on the south side of the Pemigewasset Wilderness, the source of the Pemigewasset River in the heart of the White Mountains, between Franconia Notch and Crawford Notch. Mount Hancock is flanked to the northeast by Mount Carrigain, to the south by Mount Huntington, and to the west by Mount Hitchcock.
