Early Works (film)
''Early Works'' ( sr, Rani Radovi, sr-Cyrl, Рани радови) is a 1969 Yugoslavian film by Serbian author Želimir Žilnik. It critically depicts the aftermath of the 1968 student demonstrations in Yugoslavia. It won the Golden Bear at the 19th Berlin International Film Festival in 1969. The title was borrowed from the popular anthology of the early work by Marx and Engels published first in Yugoslavia in 1953. These early texts had a significant influence on the development of the Yugoslav Praxis School of philosophy. The title was chosen ironically as a comment on the discrepancy between the theory, as expressed by Marx and Engels in their work, and practice, as implemented by the Soviet Union and other countries of real socialism. Želimir Žilnik
Želimir Žilnik ( sr-cyr, Желимир Жилник; ; born 8 September 1942) is a Serbian film director best known as one of the major figures of the Yugoslav Black Wave film movement of the 1960s and 1970s. Early life Žilnik was born in 1942 in the Gestapo-run Crveni Krst concentration camp near the city of Niš in southern occupied Serbia. Both of his parents were Communist activists who were executed. His father was a Slovene who was captured and killed by Chetniks, and posthumously honored as a Yugoslav People's Hero. After his mother was executed, he was released and raised by his maternal grandparents. As a youth he was editor of a communist magazine called ''Tribina Mladih''. As a student, Žilnik was chosen to take part in an international cultural exchange program in New York City, where he was first exposed to films that dealt with social and political criticisms. Slobodan Aligrudić
Slobodan Aligrudić ( sr-Cyrl, Слободан Алигрудић; 15 October 1934 – 13 August 1985) was a Serbian actor known for some of the most memorable roles in the history of former Yugoslav cinema. Biography Aligrudić was born in Bitola. He earned prominence as a thespian in Belgrade's Atelje 212 Theatre, but to a wider audience he is best known for his memorable character portrayals on film. Some of those roles were achieved in classic films of former Yugoslav cinema, including '' Love Affair, or the Case of the Missing Switchboard Operator''. Due to his distinctly coarse look, most of his roles were stern authority figures, but he always managed to give them a breath of humanity. One of the best examples is Maho, a father character in Emir Kusturica's 1981 coming-of-age drama '' Do You Remember Dolly Bell?''. Serbian (, ) is the standardized variety of the Serbo-Croatian language mainly used by Serbs.
