Earl E. O'Connor
Earl Eugene O'Connor (October 6, 1922 – November 29, 1998) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Kansas. Education and career Born in Paola, Kansas, O'Connor was in the United States Army during World War II, from 1942 to 1946. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kansas in 1948 and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1950. He was in private practice in Mission, Kansas from 1950 to 1951, and was then an assistant county attorney of Johnson County, Kansas from 1951 to 1953. He was a probate and juvenile court judge in Johnson County from 1953 to 1955, and then a district judge in Johnson County from 1955 to 1965. He served as a justice of the Kansas Supreme Court from 1965 to 1971. Senior Status
Senior status is a form of semi-retirement for United States federal judges. To qualify, a judge in the Federal judiciary of the United States, federal court system must be at least 65 years old, and the sum of the judge's age and years of service as a federal judge must be at least 80 years. As long as senior judges carry at least a 25 percent caseload or meet other criteria for activity, they remain entitled to maintain a staffed office and chambers, including a secretary and their normal complement of law clerks, and they continue to receive annual cost-of-living increases. Senior judges vacate their seats on the bench, and the President of the United States, president may appoint new full-time judges to fill those seats. Some U.S. states have similar systems for senior judges. Johnson County is a county in the U.S. state of Kansas, on the border with Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the population was 609,863, making it the most populous county in Kansas. Its county seat is Olathe. Largely suburban, the county contains a number of suburbs of Kansas City, Missouri, including Overland Park, a principal city of and second most populous city in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. Kansas State Court Judges
Kansas () is a state in the Midwestern United States. Its capital is Topeka, and its largest city is Wichita. David Prager (judge)
David Prager (October 30, 1918 – June 30, 2002) was a justice of the Kansas Supreme Court from December 4, 1971, to January 12, 1987, serving as chief justice from January 12, 1987, to September 1, 1988. He was succeeded as Chief Justice by Robert H. Miller when he retired after 17 years of service to the court. The vacated supreme court seat was filled by Frederick N. Six. From 1946 till 1959, he practised with law firm Rooney & Dickerson, that later became Rooney, Dickerson, Prager & Crow. He then became a judge for the 3rd judicial district, Shawnee County, Kansas from 1959 till 1971 when he was appointed to the supreme court.
