Eamon McGee
Eamon McGee (born 26 April 1984) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Gaoth Dobhair and also, formerly, for the Donegal county team (between 2004 and 2016). He is the older brother of Neil McGee. From Gweedore in County Donegal, he won one All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, three Ulster Senior Football Championships and one National Football League with his county and an Ulster title with his club. For a small time until Patrick McBrearty, Neil McGee, Paddy McGrath, Leo McLoone, Frank McGlynn, Michael Murphy and Anthony Thompson surpassed it in 2018, McGee's haul of Ulster Senior Football Championships was a joint county team record (alongside such past players as Anthony Molloy, Martin McHugh, Joyce McMullan and Donal Reid). Letterkenny
Letterkenny ( ga, Leitir Ceanainn , meaning 'hillside of the O'Cannons'), nicknamed 'the Cathedral Town', is the largest and most populous town in County Donegal, a county in Ulster, the northern province in Ireland. Letterkenny lies on the River Swilly in East Donegal in the north-west of Ulster, and has a population of 19,274. Michael Murphy (Gaelic Footballer)
Michael Murphy (born 4 August 1989) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays as a full forward for Glenswilly and, formerly, for the Donegal county team, which he captained from December 2010 until his retirement from inter-county football in November 2022. His predecessors as Donegal players, such as Manus Boyle, Brendan Devenney and Anthony Molloy, regard Murphy as the county's greatest ever footballer. Outside his county he is often regarded as one of the sport's all-time best players. With more than 500 points, Murphy is Donegal's all-time record scorer and he is also the county's top goalscorer, with a points-per-game average that is higher even than Martin McHugh. Shane Carr
Shane Carr is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played as a defender for Four Masters and the Donegal county team. His inter-county debut came in a game against Antrim in 1998. He was part of the panel during 1998 and 1999. He came back in 2001. From 2001 he was part of the team until retiring in the spring of 2006. According to the '' Sunday Independent'', Carr left the panel when Eamon McGee moved ahead of him on the substitutes bench despite McGee's poor discipline and lack of dedication. Carr started the first game of Brian McEniff's last spell as Donegal manager, a league defeat to Galway in Tuam in February 2003. Brian McEniff
Brian McEniff (born 1 December 1942) is a former Gaelic football manager, administrator and player. McEniff played as a wing-back for the St Joseph's combination of clubs from Bundoran and Ballyshannon. He won seven Donegal Senior Football Championships with them, and another one with Réalt na Mara when St Joseph's divided. He won two Ulster Senior Football Championships with the Donegal county team as player-manager in 1972 and 1974, and was awarded an All Star after the first of these, before being ousted. He returned to manage the county to a third Ulster SFC in 1983, then left again. He returned once more in 1989, leading the county to its fourth and fifth Ulster SFCs in 1990 and 1992, as well as the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in the last of these. Ulster Senior Club Football Championship
The Ulster Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition played between the top clubs in Ulster GAA. The trophy awarded to the winners is the Seamus McFerran Cup ( ga, Corn Shéamuis Mhic Fearáin). The winners and the Connacht, Leinster, Munster and London champions compete in the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Glen are the current champions, having beaten Kilcoo in the 2022 final. Crossmaglen Rangers from Armagh have won the most titles with eleven wins. Eddie Brennan (Gaelic Footballer)
Eddie Brennan is a Gaelic footballer. A former club footballer with St Eunan's in Letterkenny, with whom he has won numerous county championships, he previously played for Drumcliffe–Rosses Point, the Sligo county football team, and since moving to Donegal, the Donegal county football team. Brennan's transfer from Sligo to Donegal proved controversial, generating much media coverage and opposition from rival clubs. The dispute led to the final of the 2002 Donegal Senior Football Championship not being played until 2003. Donegal Senior Football Championship
The Donegal Senior Football Championship (abbreviated as Donegal SFC) is an annual football competition organised by Donegal GAA and contested by the highest-level clubs, to determine the best team in County Donegal. Since 2016, it has been known as Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure Donegal SFC after its headline sponsor. Initially a straight knock-out competition, the Donegal SFC added a round-robin group stage in 2013. The final is played at MacCumhaill Park in Ballybofey. The winning club qualifies to represent its county in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship, the winners of which go on to compete in the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. The winning club receives the Dr Maguire Cup. The competition has been won by 17 clubs, 14 of which have won it more than once. Donal Reid
Donal Reid ( ; born 1961 or 1962) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for Bundoran, Red Hughs and the Donegal county team. He played more than 100 times competitively for Donegal, appearing at all age levels and positions from midfield to forward to defence. Reid won two All-Ireland titles with his county, and was part of Jim McGuinness's backroom team when they won another in 2012. He also played hurling with the Setanta club. Playing career Reid played first with Bundoran and later with the Red Hughs club. He played alongside future Donegal manager Brian McEniff in the team's defence. Joyce McMullan
Joyce McMullan is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for Four Masters and the Donegal county team. He was a member of the team that won Donegal's first All-Ireland title in 1992, and was selected as an All Star in 1990. Born in County Donegal, Ireland, McMullan played senior football for Donegal from 1983 to 1999. Playing career Club McMullan played with Four Masters, his local club in Donegal Town, from an early age. He was part of the team which won the club's first two Donegal Senior Football Championship medals, in 1982 and 1984, before emigration led to a decline in the club's fortunes for the rest of his tenure there. Martin McHugh (Gaelic Footballer)
Martin McHugh (born 1961) is a former Gaelic footballer, manager and media pundit. He is a native of Kilcar, County Donegal. McHugh was a member of the Donegal county team that won the 1992 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. He also won three Ulster Senior Football Championships, two All Stars and, in 1992, the Texaco Footballer of the Year. He works as a pundit on the BBC Television's coverage of the Ulster Championship and has made occasional appearances on RTÉ Television during other competitions.
