EUDemocrats
Europeans United for Democracy – Alliance for a Europe of Democracies, formerly known as ''EUDemocrats'', was a Eurosceptic and self-described Eurorealist alliance of parties and movements from 15 European countries. It operated as a transnational party at the European level ( European political party), according to Regulation (EC) No 2004/2003. It incorporated members from both the left and right of the political spectrum. The party was set up under Danish law on 7 November 2005 and founded as a European Party in Brussels on 8 November 2005. Its first congress was held on 24 February 2006. Former Danish MEPs Jens-Peter Bonde and Hanne Dahl inspired the EUD's creation and first years. In January 2009, Swedish economist and former MEP Sören Wibe succeeded Bonde as President of the EUD. Jens-Peter Bonde
Jens-Peter Rossen Bonde (27 March 1948 – 4 April 2021) was a Danish politician who served as Member of the European Parliament (MEP) with the June Movement. He resigned as an MEP in May 2008. Bonde was elected to the European Parliament in the first election in 1979 with the People's Movement against the EU. He was re-elected 6 times consecutively. In 1992 he co-founded the June Movement which he chaired until his retirement in May 2008. Jens-Peter Bonde emerged from the Danish Left of the 1970s, however he was on the centre-left for much of his life. In November 2005 he was the inspiration behind the setting up of a new Party at a European level, EUDemocrats. He was its president from 2005 to 2009. Bonde wrote over 60 books on the EU, including editions of EU treaties with additional commentary. Family Jens-Peter Bonde is the son of Nina Bonde and Nis Bonde. Lave Knud Broch
Lave Knud Broch is a Danish politician and Vice President of the European Political Alliance, EUDemocrats and substitute member to the European Parliament for the People's Movement against the EU. Broch is the chair of the Danish UN Association’s Peace and Conflict resolution committee and serves on the executive board. He is widely known in the Danish public for arguing that Denmark should not participate in military actions without a UN mandate. He strongly supports Danish participation in the UN's efforts to promote peace, including establishing a permanent UN peace force. Broch has connections to a variety of nordic countries, having grown up in Malmö in Sweden in a Danish-Norwegian family. Broch has a Master of Science degree in Political Science from University of Copenhagen. Sören Wibe
Sören Axel Wibe (8 October 1946 – 29 December 2010) was a European economist and eurosceptic politician, born in Östersund. He was a Social Democratic Member of the European Parliament (MEP) 1995–1999, member of the Riksdag 2002–2006, and who since 6 July 2008 was party leader of the June List. In January 2009 he was elected President of the EUDemocrats - Alliance for a Europe of Democracies, a eurorealist European political party with members from 15 European countries. Independence/Democracy (IND/DEM) was a Eurosceptic political group active during the 2004–2009 term of the European Parliament. The group was the successor to the Europe of Democracies and Diversities (EDD) group. The group collapsed following the 2009 European elections after losing many of its MEPs and was succeeded by Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD) for the 2009–2014 term of the European Parliament. Transnational Political Party
A transnational political party is a single political party with members or representatives in more than one country. A well-known example is the Arab Baath Socialist Party, established as an Arab nationalist and socialist party aspiring to pan-Arab political union. The party's central governing body, the National Command, included representatives from its organisations in all the Arab countries where Baathists had a significant presence. Each branch of the party, in turn, had a local governing body, the Regional Command, and although practical power became centred in the Syrian and Iraqi Regional Commands and the National Command of each faction assumed an essentially symbolic role, the party split in 1966, with different factions taking control in Syria and Iraq, each faction retained a pan-Arab structure. People's Movement Against The EU
The People's Movement against the EU ( da, Folkebevægelsen mod EU) is a political association in Denmark against the European Union. It was founded in 1972 as a cross-party campaign platform for a 'no' vote in Denmark's referendum on EEC membership. The People's Movement was represented in the European Parliament from 1979 until 2019, when it lost its single seat in the European Parliament election. The movement has approximately 3,500 personal members, as well as collective members such as political parties, NGOs and trade unions (mostly local branches). The individual members are organised in about 100 local branches. Subsidiarity
Subsidiarity is a principle of social organization that holds that social and political issues should be dealt with at the most immediate or local level that is consistent with their resolution. The ''Oxford English Dictionary'' defines subsidiarity as "the principle that a central authority should have a subsidiary function, performing only those tasks which cannot be performed at a more local level".
