Eastern Treatment Plant
The Eastern Treatment Plant is an sewage treatment plant, located in the suburb of Bangholme in Victoria, Australia, southeast of Melbourne's central business district. The plant was built in 1975 and is owned by Melbourne Water. Following treatment, some water is used as recycled water in the local area. South East Water is a major supplier of recycled water from the Eastern Treatment Plant. The rest is pumped through of pipeline to discharge into Bass Strait at Boags Rocks on the Mornington Peninsula. Description The plant is on an site bordered by the Patterson River to the north, the Mornington Peninsula Freeway to the west, and the EastLink Tollway to the south and east. The plant treats around 40 percent of Melbourne's sewage — about a day — from about 1.5 million people, mainly in the eastern and south-eastern suburbs. It generates some of its own electricity, as well as heating and cooling power from biogas. Upgrade After years of lobbying by community group ...

Economic Transformation Programme
The Economic Transformation Programme is an initiative by the Malaysian government to turn Malaysia into a high income economy by the year of 2020. It is managed by the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU), an agency under the Prime Minister Department of Malaysia. Overview Launched on 21 September 2010, it is a comprehensive economic transformation plan to propel Malaysia's economy into high income economy. The program will lift Malaysia's gross national income (GNI) to US$523 billion by 2020, and raise per capita income from US$6,700 to at least US$15,000, meeting the World Bank's threshold for high income nation. It is projected that Malaysia will be able to achieve the targets set if GNI grows by 6% per annum. Set to revitalise Malaysia's private sector, the 60% of the blueprint's investment would derived from private sector, 32% from government linked companies and the remaining 8% from the government. Various sectors for development have been identified and are ...

Effluent Treatment Plant
Industrial wastewater treatment describes the processes used for treating wastewater that is produced by industries as an undesirable by-product. After treatment, the treated industrial wastewater (or effluent) may be reused or released to a sanitary sewer or to a surface water in the environment. Some industrial facilities generate wastewater that can be treated in sewage treatment plants. Most industrial processes, such as petroleum refineries, chemical and petrochemical plants have their own specialized facilities to treat their wastewaters so that the pollutant concentrations in the treated wastewater comply with the regulations regarding disposal of wastewaters into sewers or into rivers, lakes or oceans. This applies to industries that generate wastewater with high concentrations of organic matter (e.g. oil and grease), toxic pollutants (e.g. heavy metals, volatile organic compounds) or nutrients such as ammonia. Some industries install a pre-treatment system to remove so ...

Electrolytic Tough-pitch
Oxygen-free copper (OFC) or oxygen-free high thermal conductivity (OFHC) copper is a group of wrought high-conductivity copper alloys that have been electrolytically refined to reduce the level of oxygen to 0.001% or below. Specification Oxygen-free copper is typically specified according to the ASTM/ UNS database. The UNS database includes many different compositions of high conductivity electrical copper. Of these, three are widely used and two are considered oxygen-free: * C10100 – also known as ''oxygen-free electronic'' (OFE). This is a 99.99% pure copper with 0.0005% oxygen content. It achieves a minimum 101% IACS conductivity rating. This copper is finished to a final form in a carefully regulated, oxygen-free environment. Silver (Ag) is considered an impurity in the OFE chemical specification. This is also the most expensive of the three grades listed here. * C10200 – also known as ''oxygen-free'' (OF). While OF is considered oxygen-free, its conductivity rati ...

Electronics Training Program
The Electronics Training Program (ETP) was the name commonly used for an unusual, difficult, and selective training activity of the United States Navy during World War II. The ETP combined college-level classroom instruction with laboratories involving highly complex electronic systems that were classified secret, resulting in a level of training reported to have been the most intense and difficult ever given to enlisted servicemen. A highly regarded Naval officer noted that the ETP graduates were in the top three to five percent of the Navy's wartime personnel, officers as well as enlisted men. Background As America entered WW II, there was a crisis concerning the availability of men qualified to maintain the huge amount of complex electronic equipment being procured for the Navy's ships, aircraft, submarines, and shore stations. The Navy had over 200,000 personnel, but only a few hundred were radio technicians, most having obtained their qualification through self-study and on ...

Employment Termination Payment
A severance package is pay and benefits that employees may be entitled to receive when they leave employment at a company unwillfully. In addition to their remaining regular pay, it may include some of the following: * Any additional payment based on months of service * Payment for unused accrued PTO vacation time, holiday pay or sick leave unless the employee is picked up by the new buyer wherein all benefits become the responsibility of the new employer. * A payment in lieu of a required notice period. * Retirement accounts * Stock options * Assistance in searching for new work, such as access to employment services or help in producing a résumé. Packages are most typically offered for employees who are laid off or retire. Severance pay was instituted to help protect the newly unemployed. Sometimes, they may be offered for those who either resign, regardless of the circumstances, or are fired. Policies for severance packages are often found in a company's employee hand ...

Energy Technology Perspectives
''Energy Technology Perspectives'' (ETP) is a publication on energy technology published by the International Energy Agency’s (IEA). It demonstrates how technologies can help achieve the objective of limiting the global temperature rise to 2°C and enhancing energy security. G8 leaders invited the International Energy Agency to contribute to the Gleneagles G8 Plan of Action on Climate Change, Clean Energy and Sustainable Development in 2005. They asked the IEA to advise on alternative scenarios and strategies for a "clean, clever, competitive energy future". The results of this initiative included the Energy Technology Perspectives, first published in 2006. ''Energy Technology Perspectives'' (ETP) gives a long-term outlook on the global energy system. The main results are presented up to the year 2050. For the 2012 edition the analysis was extended to include scenarios up to 2075. ETP models the global energy system under different scenarios for around 500 technology options ...

Endogenous Thrombin Potential
A thrombin generation assay (TGA) or thrombin generation test (TGT) is a global coagulation assay (GCA) and type of coagulation test which can be used to assess coagulation and thrombotic risk. It is based on the potential of a plasma to generate thrombin over time, following activation of coagulation via addition of phospholipids, tissue factor, and calcium. The results of the TGA can be output as a thrombogram or thrombin generation curve using computer software with calculation of thrombogram parameters. TGAs can be performed with methods like the semi-automated calibrated automated thrombogram (CAT) (2003) or the fully-automated ST Genesia system (2018). TGAs were first used as manual assays in the 1950s and have since become increasingly automated. Parameters Thrombogram parameters for the TGA include: * Lag time (minutes; time until thrombin first generated/thrombin concentration first increased) * Time to peak or ttPeak (minutes; time to maximum concentration of throm ...
