ES Guelma
Espérance Sportive de Guelma ( ar, الترجي الرياضي القالمي), known as ES Guelma or simply ESG for short, is an Algerian football club based in Guelma. The club was founded in 1924 as 'Espérance Sportive Franco Musulmane Guelmoise (ESFM Guelmoise)' and its colours are black and white. Their home stadium, Stade Souidani Boujemaa, has a capacity of 15,000 spectators. The club is currently playing in the Inter-Régions Division. The club spent 17 seasons in the Algerian Championnat National, with the last time being in 1992. The club also reached the semi-finals of the Algerian Cup on three occasions: 1968, 1987 and 1989. Stade Souidani Boujemaa
The Boudjemaa Souidani Stadium (), is a multi-use stadium in Guelma, Algeria.It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of ES Guelma. The stadium holds 15,000 spectators. Inter-Régions Division (also known as ''Ligue Inter-Régions de football'') is the third-highest division overall in the Algerian football league system. The division has six groups based on the region of the country, which are East, West and Centre-East, Centre-West, South-east and South-west each containing 16 teams from their respective regions. Guelma ( ar, قالمة ''Qālima''; arq, ڨالمة; Algerian pronunciation: ) is the capital of Guelma Province and Guelma District, located in north-eastern Algeria, about 65 kilometers from the Mediterranean coast. Its location corresponds to that of ancient Calama. History Antiquity Though Guelma was settled from early prehistory, it was first established as a town under the Phoenicians, who called it ''Malaca'', probably a Phoenician word meaning "salt" (sharing a common etymology with ''Málaga'' in Spain). Algerian Cup
The Algerian Cup ( ar, كأس الجزائر) also known the Republic Cup ( ar, كأس الجمهورية), is a football competition in Algeria, pitting regional teams against each other. It was established in October 1962, three months after independence, and has been played yearly since then apart from 1990 and 1993. The most successful clubs in this competition are USM Alger, CR Belouizdad, ES Setif and MC Alger with eight trophies for each. The record for consecutive wins in the competition is only two, several teams have achieved such USM Alger, CR Belouizdad, MC Oran, JS Kabylie and MC Algiers. North African Championship
The North African Championship was a football competition involving the territories of French Algeria, French protectorate of Morocco and French protectorate of Tunisia. It was played between the champions of the Tunisian, the Moroccan football league and the 3 Algerian regional leagues. Morocco did not enter their champions until the 1928/29 season. In 1956 the cup was cancelled because Morocco and Tunisia both became independent of France in that year and left the cup.
