Empire Marketing Board
The Empire Marketing Board was formed in May 1926 by the Colonial Secretary Leo Amery to promote intra-Empire trade and to persuade consumers to 'Buy Empire'. It was established as a substitute for tariff reform and protectionist legislation and this is why it was eventually abolished in 1933, as a system of imperial preference replaced free trade. During its brief existence, the Empire Marketing Board was unsuccessful in raising Britain's imports of products from the Empire. Overview Amery was its first chairman, Sir Stephen George Tallents its secretary, Edward Mayow Hastings Lloyd its assistant secretary, and Walter Elliot was chairman of its research committee. The EMB had three principal aims: * to support scientific research; * promotion of economic analysis; and * publicity for Empire trade. In 1925 the Imperial Economic Committee; a board which hosted representatives from the Dominions and Britain; conceived the Empire Marketing Board to generate public support for ...

Electromagnetic Buoyancy
Electromagnetic buoyancy (EMB) is a force that opposes the Lorentz force during electromagnetic phoresis of small particles or droplets in an aqueous medium. It is analogous to the ordinary effect of buoyancy observed when objects float in liquid under the influence of gravity In physics, gravity () is a fundamental interaction which causes mutual attraction between all things with mass or energy. Gravity is, by far, the weakest of the four fundamental interactions, approximately 1038 times weaker than the stro .... Though this force is still being researched, it has been clearly observed in experimental procedures. References Electromagnetism Buoyancy {{electromagnetism-stub ...

Eosin Methylene Blue
Eosin methylene blue (EMB, also known as "Levine's formulation") is a selective stain for Gram-negative bacteria. EMB contains dyes that are toxic to Gram-positive bacteria. EMB is the selective and differential medium for coliforms. It is a blend of two stains, eosin and methylene blue in the ratio of 6:1. EMB is a differential microbiological medium, which slightly inhibits the growth of Gram-positive bacteria and provides a color indicator distinguishing between organisms that ferment lactose (e.g., ''E. coli'') and those that do not (e.g., ''Salmonella'', ''Shigella''). Organisms that ferment lactose display "nucleated colonies"—colonies with dark centers. This medium is important in medical laboratories by distinguishing pathogenic microbes in a short period of time. *Rapid lactose fermentation produces acids, which lower the pH. This encourages dye absorption by the colonies, which are now colored purple-black. *Lactose non-fermenters may increase the pH by deaminat ...

In the United States the FDA has raised concerns about eye issues in the baby if used during pregnancy. Ethambutol is believed to work by interfering with the bacteria's metabolism. Ethambutol was discovered in 1961. It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines and is available as a generic medication. Chir ...
