Yuri Nikitin (author)
Yuri Aleksandrovich Nikitin (russian: Ю́рий Алекса́ндрович Ники́тин), born November 30, 1939, in Kharkov, USSR, is a Russian science fiction and fantasy writer. Although he was active in science fiction before perestroika, the recognition came when he wrote a Slavic fantasy novel, ''The Three from the Forest'' (Russian: Трое из Леса). One of the protagonists is a character based on the Russian Rurikid Prince Oleg of Novgorod, who is a mainstay of many sequels. Nikitin also wrote a couple of novels about Vladimir I of Kiev. Nikitin created websitecalled Inn (Russian: Корчма) as a community portal to help young writers. AST (russian: АСТ) is one of the largest book publishing companies in Russia, headed by Oleg Bartenev (Олег Бартенев). It owns a bookstores chain "Bukva" (russian: Буква, lit. ''A Letter''). Comix-ART (russian: Комикс-Арт, ''Komiks-Art'') is a comics imprint of Russian book publisher Domino. It serves as a translator and the licensor of graphic novels, manga, manhwa and original English-language manga. Comix-ART, founded in 2008 with headquarters in Saint Petersburg, releases its titles in collaboration with Eksmo, another publishing house, and their books are published under "Eksmo" label. They do not reverse the pages (so called " flopping"). Russian Science Fiction And Fantasy
Science fiction and fantasy have been part of mainstream Russian literature since the 18th century. Russian fantasy developed from the centuries-old traditions of Slavic mythology and folklore. Russian science fiction emerged in the mid-19th century and rose to its golden age during the Soviet era, both in cinema and literature, with writers like the Strugatsky brothers, Kir Bulychov, and Mikhail Bulgakov, among others. Soviet filmmakers, such as Andrei Tarkovsky, also produced many science fiction and fantasy films. With the fall of the Iron Curtain, modern Russia experienced a renaissance of fantasy. Vera Viktorovna Kamsha (russian: Вера Викторовна Камша; born November 5, 1962 in Lviv, Ukrainian SSR) is a Russian author of high fantasy and a journalist. Biography Kamsha graduated from Lviv Polytechnic, after which she moved to Leningrad. At early 1990s she was involved in politics and worked in Lensoviet. From 1994 onwards she became a journalist. The turning point in her career was her 2001 meeting with Nick Perumov, already a popular fantasy writer by the time.
