The East Coast Main Line (ECML) is a Railway electrification system, electrified railway between London and Edinburgh via Peterborough, Doncaster, York, Darlington, Durham, England, Durham and Newcastle upon Tyne, Newcastle. The line is a key transport artery on the eastern side of Great Britain running broadly parallel to the A1 road (Great Britain), A1 road. The line was built during the 1840s by three railway companies, the North British Railway, the North Eastern Railway (UK), North Eastern Railway, and the Great Northern Railway (Great Britain), Great Northern Railway. Hull Trains
Hull Trains is an open-access railway operator in England owned by the multinational transport company FirstGroup. It operates long-distance passenger services between Hull / Beverley and London King's Cross. It has a track-access agreement until December 2032. Hull Trains was originally established in 1999 in the aftermath of the privatisation of British Rail in response to the low volume of trains between Hull and London King's Cross operated by the incumbent franchise. Lumo is a British open-access operator owned by FirstGroup that operates passenger trains on the East Coast Main Line between and . It is headquartered in Newcastle upon Tyne. London North Eastern Railway
London North Eastern Railway (LNER) is a British train operating company. It is owned by the DfT OLR Holdings for the Department for Transport (DfT). The company's name echoes that of the London and North Eastern Railway, one of the Big Four companies which operated between 1923 and 1948. During June 2018, LNER took over the InterCity East Coast franchise, after the previous privately owned operator Virgin Trains East Coast (VTEC) returned it to the government following sustained financial difficulties. Hornsey TMD
The area around Hornsey railway station in Hornsey (London Borough of Haringey) has been the site of several railway maintenance facilities from the mid 19th century onwards. Initial developments included two two-road engine sheds, built east of the station (1866) and north of the station. In 1899 a substantial eight-road engine shed was built east of the station. In c.1973 an electric multiple unit maintenance depot was constructed as part of the electrification of the Great Northern rail route. Burnmouth
Burnmouth is a small fishing village located adjacent to the A1 road on the east coast of Scotland. It is the first village in Scotland on the A1, after crossing the border with England. Burnmouth is located in the Parish of Ayton, in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland and governed by Scottish Borders Council. Burnmouth lies at the point where a burn slices through the high cliffs lining this coast en route to the sea. There may have been a mill here in the Middle Ages, but little else until a fishing harbour was built in the 1830s, later extended in 1879 and 1959.
